As the title says. Its really annoying. On other planes i can just press Lock button and ACM stays on forever until there is a lock. And i can also make it work on the F-4J/S by wildly clicking on the radar interface buttons, maybe a bug. But when using HMS or HMS PD i have to press Lock every 2 seconds because the ACM disables itself again. Is there a way around it?
What do you mean by disables itself? I has never done that to me. When i switch to ACM mode, it stays on ACM mode.
Well, i select ACM HMS PD, i press H (lock button), the green HMD lock Box flashes for 2 seconds and then it stops.
On my MiG-23ML: i press H, ACM enables and the giant green rectangle flashes forever until it finds something.
oh, yeah that is the case with all ACM on HMS systems. It is because if it stayed on, looking around would be very annoying as it would just start locking everything.
Just look at what you want to lock and press the lock button. No need to spam it constantly.
The thing is, if the target is not locked because the radar isn’t the best you have to spam the button until there is a lock, wasting time and awareness. I can manually disable it by pressing h again, so it would not disturb me if it stayed active…
If it isnt locking, the regular ACM would not of locked it either.
Try to figure out when to recognize when a target is in a position where your radar will lock. With the PD mode on those jets, you dhould not be trying to lock anything that isnt coming directly at you. And if they are, the radar should have no issue locking.
As far as i am aware, there isnt an option to change how it works.
