F-22 Raptor

Considering we can’t even reach F-15E’s theoretical mach 2.7 let alone its confirmed 2.5, I doubt we’ll see F-22 go 2.5+.

I know, old post, but I’m still upset about the high altitude drag nerf F-15E got.

I was thinking the numbers matched nicely between the docs, and just for fun I threw your spec sheet, gao report and the charts from the LM page, asked AI to crunch it to see if it would reach the same conclusion, and well, it kinda says they do match.
I also asked it if it could extrapolate on the turning figures a bit from that 3.7g turn at altitude and the 22/37 degrees figures.
Anyhow, it spit me these:

Sustained turn (22°/s)
Likely occurs at: ~15,000–25,000 ft, ~Mach 0.5–0.6, ~6–7 g sustained

Not consistent with the 3.7G @ 30k @M0.9, for these conditions it gave me a 7-8 degree/sec.

I asked for methodology confidence vs extrapolation on those and it wrote the 3.7G @ 7-8 degrees as more reliable, mid for the 6-7G turn @ 22 deg/s at mid altitude, and low confidence that the 22 deg/s couldn’t happen at lower alts.

Anyhow, I think I’ll leave the turning data for someone that actually knows the equations, AI extrapolation can be fun but in the end we’re looking for something a little more rock solid.

From the RAM limitations we know of, M2.5 shouldn’t be possible unless you want to degrade the coatings, but who knows how Gaijin will deal with that.

The 22 degrees per second is at sea level/ at 0ft.

It’s a slightly better sustained rate fighter the flanker, much worse than eurofighter though.

Though f-22 instantaneous is insane.

Personally I’m expecting flight performance broadly similar to eurofighter other than sustained turn rate.

Eurofighter cooks every plane in the game in sustained turn rate other than f-2 at very, very low speeds where it’s irrelevant

again, this is from a british doc, so likely not the most accurate

their estimates are known to be fairly far off IRL performance and the F22 is highly classified

its probably a bit closer than the 20+ degrees per second at 40000 ft statement, but the truth likely lies between the two

and that british document uses very low speeds for the STR, while many fighters have better STR at high speeds

20 degrees at 40k feet is just utter fantasy lol.

And yeah most fighters peak at around Mach .8 usually for sustained

Dont poke hornets nest.

Some crazy Raptor fans might just release classified flight charts just to disprove you Xd.

Recent images of the F-22 Raptor equipped with ‘stealth’ fuel tanks and also IRST sensor pods.

Does anyone know what the dots on the bottom are for?

Stealth?

They look pretty normal.

my guess would be pressure sensors, to see the impact of the new stores on airflow

They have some faceting and chines going on, there are clearer pics of them on twitter.

The external fuel tanks in the bottom recent photo, marked red, look slightly different in an angular faceted shape and also colour than the cone ones Raptor normally uses in the top photo.

These might be the new LDTP “Low Drag Tanks and Pylons” Lockheed Martin has been developing for a few years to increase the combat capability of the F-22 for long-range missions.

damn thats a nice ‘mockup’ to have at home

good read on f-22 by feet

Idk, you see it a lot on test aircraft

Yep

@kizvy makes you wonder how good it would be if it focused purely on performance without the added mass of internal bays and RAM.

I don’t think mach 2 super cruise would be that unreasonable

empty internal bay > more fuel tanks

What if they trimmed the belly so it looked more like the F-14’s with engines sticking out

this is bad…
really really bad
CHINESE DRIVER

we don’t even have rank 10

the most expensive jets in WT cost below 500k RP, and u want it to cost 3 times more?

i wonder if u can get this amount ingame…

btw didn’t they say in the leaks or a stream that stealth aircrafts would come between half and end of the year?

what is FV2?
