40 to 80km range? the missile simply wont have energy to intercept the aircraft if it starts defending.
and you seem to be the kind of person that does not understand this is a game first and foremost.
if you ever respawned, you already broke your precious realism, since you dont get to respawn IRL.
because, as we already estabilished, this is a game, and meta simply is to have manueverable missile fired off at close range to have as little time to target as possible to give the enemy less time to react.
you can do that, just dont expect to get any hits lol. what do you expect, to be the main protagonist of reality and have people just sit there ignoring the RWR screaming and let themselves get hit?

ASRAAM accelerates like nothing else, MICA IR has the longest range, IRIS-T is a mix of the two former but pulls harder, R-74M is arguable equal (to the 9X), etc etc

Also, might be worth noting that currently, the mechanics for defending missiles (notching, MP, flaring) are all simplified and unrealistic
