I don’t believe the F-16Ds ever used the Derby in active service, afaik they were just mounted on some aircraft for testing, but in the future the IAF made sure to keep all aircraft compatible with Israeli weaponry such as the derbys and pythons, as is stated by the IAF. They should be compatible yes, but they didn’t actively use them afaik.
Also the infamous photos of the F-16D with the Derby are actually of the F-16D Block 30 Barack I, not the F-16D Block 40 Barack II we have ingame lol.
IAF is retiring all the F-16C Barak I aircrafts as of July 2024.
F-16I Sufa is the only IAF F-16 that uses AIM-120s. F-16D Barak II is on Derby.
The dorsal Spine is only on the Barak II and Sufa. Besides electronics it contains additional Chaff/Flares. And if the Bug report is finally fixed, we get back the 180 Chaff/Flares which Barak II should have.
GJ can safe the devs time to invest more into the F-16I Sufa, please, rather than a dated F-16C Barak I.
i think F16C/D of blk 30 its useless rn in the game
btw in 2020 they made program that upgrdes the F16’s its calld BARAK 2020
edit: the 101 squadron got some
theoretically yes they couold carry derbys (im about the 40s ofc) but remember israel gets the aim 120 to so its better to have aim 120 and derbys idk why gaijin dont want to add this option, and they can block the option to have aim 120 and derbys together, like its make more sense no…?
edit: “together” i mean at the same time!
I would disagree. The F16C Block 40 Barak II is still in active service. As far as the Israeli Defense Forces are concerned, there is exceptionally sparse information about the weapons used, not to mention the countless improvements to the vehicles themselves (which is also very clever, in my opinion). The AIM 120s are used by the SUFA and very likely by the BARAK as well. Israel operates very cost-efficiently when it comes to its defense forces. At least, as far as I know. In an armaments archive, I once found a list item on weapons procurement. Among them were the AIM 120 (although it didn’t specify which model) and the AIM 9 L/M. Therefore, I would conclude that the M is indeed part of the regular armament.
I quickly did another search, glad I was able to find it again. The AIM 9L/M and AIM 120B were purchased in 2010. However, in the future, only the AIM 9M and AIM 120C were to be purchased. Well, that was in 2010, so it’s safe to assume that the note is also significantly outdated. As long as no one here can or wants to provide precise evidence, I would accept Gaijin’s selection of weapons for the Barak. That seems credible to me, and I wouldn’t rely on photos from Google and the like…
