I made this forum because I want to ask people: What do you think of the radar on the AM?
I personally have had nothing but issues with it. But maybe I’m just spoiled by the tornado F.3 and M2K-5F radar.
Isn’t it similar to other f16 radar and overall american radar ? For my case i don’t like them, easier to keep lock/lock something with mirage 2k 5f.
If its anything like the F-16D placeholder radar we had on the Gripen. Its definetly worse than Fox hunter or Blue Vixen. Never used the M2K , so cant comment how it compares to that.
It’s missing its radar HMD mode and it has a very small TWS scan width
also it feels like it scans at a snails pace compared to the foxhunter & thales rdy
Yeah for hmd i agree after for the scan width it’a standard american radar sadly except if i’m missing some settings and yeah scanrate is not the best.
Do they usually have trouble locking scanned targets too? or is this a f16am experience only?
I played some israeli f16 and american one on a friend account and for me it is the exact same experience as the f16 am for the radar.
In fact F-16AM fitted AN/APG-66(V)2 (except F-16AM eMLU from thai, oman & iraq) but in war thunder placeholder radar from F-16A Block 20
