F-15EX Dev Discussion Thread

it is

it has significantly better time to target than it should according to MA-31 documentation

well, only for base kh-31. PD can still be affected, but still will be better than 88G kinematically i think

yes but given that that is over preforming

its fair to assume PD also is because they share a lot of their code

I don’t even understand the balance discussion, MAW is far from being a novelty and based on previous US models it would probably only get 5km range. J15T already has a 15km optical MAW, why is the F-15EX/IA not allowed to have a worse MAW?

But it’s also a middling top tier fm, with 48cms.

the FM of the J-15 isnt that bad, ofc it isnt close to the Eurocanards but it still has a pretty solid FM for ARB, good accel, decent bleedrates at any alt, good top speed

the only real issue that plane has are its CMs or rather the lack of them

Well, I did say it is middling

But yes, the 48cms is the bigger issue. It just forces you in a defensive position where you can’t fully make use of your PL-12As outside of the BVR larp phase.

The F-15EX goes >2.4 mach at 13,000 meters, >2.3 mach at 15,000 meters.
Su-30 goes wing-rip [~2.1 mach] around 15,000 meters.
F-111F will go wing-rip [~2.5 mach] around 16,000 meters as well.

We don’t need to go fast at 18,000 meters in War Thunder [DCS doesn’t model those altitudes either].
Especially when missiles gain their best ranges at 11,000 - 12,000 anyway.

It is, it can’t get to its clean service ceiling either.
[Pylon drag still isn’t modeled.]

What is the pod on the opposite side of the sniper tgp in this picture?

its for navigation afaik

the F-15E has the same pod IRL

it is the AN/AAQ-13

the wikipedia page to get a rough idea:

Doesn’t do anything fancy on the EX according to the F15 people I know, mostly just kept there for ballast.

and it would do even less for WT since the only thing it can do is helping with navigation
which is completely irrelevant for WT

Give us terrain following radar in WT please Gaijin 😊

You don’t see it on the ANG airframes as they have the sniper pod mounted on the centerline so the CG isn’t off center.

It would be cool to have, especially for the F-111. From what I have heard, it was an incredibly rough ride lol, especially if it was set to stay as close to the ground as it could.

sadly it would be nothing but a gimmick in WT on pretty much all the planes that could get it

besides maybe air sim, but its not like gaijin cares about that mode

It could probably also help for hitting the SAM sites at the lower BRs of nuke thunder. Especially when combined with the new cluster bombs

Nah, players would complain when you can’t make it fly between trees lmao

That and it’d make the freakishly large trees seem even weirder

While true, isn’t it also true that certain liberties were taken with the racks and weapons of the Su-30, among other aircraft?

# [DEV] F-15EX/IA CFT Weight Missing From Loadouts

I was confused by this post. Here’s a clarification for anyone similarly confused:
You cannot mount munitions like GBU-39s on the F-15 without conformal fuel tanks (CFTs).
One option in the Weapons Selector suggests you can, and subtracts the empty weight, 654kg, of the CFT from the loadout. This is not possible. If you look at the model, both loadouts require CFTs on the F-15, regardless of what the weapons selector says.

The loaded weight of each CFT should be ~2,278 kg, not 654kg as one commenter on the bug report suggested.

I don’t want to spend my time calculating exact fuel values, but 2,278kg is significantly different from 654kg. I recommend doing your own calculations using Wikipedia for the F-15’s conformal fuel tanks and jet fuel weight; I did rough approximations.

This issue occurs with all munitions mounted to the CFT. Here is the GBU39 example:
