What, 38MTs are immune to smoke or operate outside of range of any AA in-game?
Not immune to smoke per se but they have IOG, requiring specific set of actions to actually defeat the missile instead of just popping smoke once.
They can operate comfortably out of range of any BLUFOR top tier SPAA.

Literally non-factor because USSR frequently faces China or even other USSR players in matchmaking.
And all those times russia doesnt face itself, side opposing russia is just supposed to suck it up?
China has HQ-17. Everyone else can still shoot down missiles.
No they can’t.
Other than the fact that you’ll rarely see a HQ-17, it sucks at short to medium range.
The Vt1 slingers are the only ones that can intercept them consistently but because of it’s terrible situational awareness, it’s easy for them not to notice that a kh-38 is coming towards them.
Everyone else just sucks. Don’t believe me? Use the ADATS in top tier.

If you manage to get your own plane that close through enemy air and HQ-17 itself.

Everyone else or ADATS? ADATS is issue of US not making proper self-propelled missile AA.
Well, you asked the question about situation in which matchmaker doesn’t do RU vs. RU. I responded that it does RU vs. CN. And you purposefully ignored the part in which you can still, in fact, shoot down missiles. Idk who’s dishonest here, actually. Or you can force the matchmaker to do RU+your nation or CN+your nation.
which is not that hard to do. Just hug the ground, pop up, launch agms, and they’ll have trouble intercepting them.
Then you don’t understand why it has terrible situational awareness. It’s search radar scope is only 27 (18 for the flakbus) degrees where as the Pantsir is 80. You’ll be able to detect agms that come at a high angle of attack.
The ADATS is an example of one of many bad spaa in the game. It’s not because it actually sucked IRL, but because it’s terribly modeled in game. Looking at the bug reports easily proves this.

And yet id argue its one of the better ones because unlike all others excluding pantsir and 2S6, it has a gun and as such it doesnt have such large deadzone around itself.
And since it got smokeless missiles ive been unpleasantly surprised a few times.
Against planes at it’s BR, yes. But the moment you get into the 12.3+ territory, it struggles a lot.
At this rate might as well simply go with bombs and do exactly the same, and with any other SPAA, not just HQ-17.
I can think of single AA that doesnt struggle there and surpisingly it aint BLUFOR one

That’s not how it works…
using AGMS at the short to medium ranges allows you to fire target multiple vehicle (including moving ones) with a high chance of hitting because of the short amount of time it takes for them to reach the targets. You just can’t do that with bombs.
Going back to the topic. There little spaa can do because of the shear amount of speed the kh38 has. Reaction time is the biggest causes of spaa being killed.

AFAIK this refers to NATO and any allied or alligned nation, similiar to REDFOR refered to Warsaw pact and its allies and alligned nations.
