F-15 Eagle: History, Performance & Discussion

2nd seat takes space

Actually this does bring up a question for me since the F-15E was not the first 2 seater eagle the F-15B and F-15D were the first

Do we have information showing the B/D had the same lower ammo count or is this something specific to the E variant? its generally hard to find information for the B/D since its less known but from what i can find they used the same ammo drum the A/C used but the E changed it with the belt box for whatever reason

Pretty sure there is a SAC for the TF-15A (early F-15B)

It quotes 938 rounds, though it is likely that not all of them are usable, so it’s the same as the F-15A.

Pretty much useless information because the F-15E manual states 512 rounds and there’s nothing we can do about it

IIRC, The F-15E is the legacy of the F-15D, which had a second cockpit instead of an electronic warfare kit, but for the F-15E it was unacceptable that it did not have electronic warfare and therefore reduced the ammunition of the gun to accommodate electronics.

Everything i can find online shows the F-15E having the lower ammo count anyway along with ammo box instead of the barrel im just wondering if that was always the case for the 2 seaters

I’d be very pissed if we don’t get a Celestial Eagle camouflage next month, as it is 50 years in September since the F-15A shot down a satellite.

Yes, you can get the camo on WT Live, but that’s not the same.

Guys, after discussing with TheWreckingAres my suggestion, which was denied several months ago, he decided to approve it and release it.

Here is said suggestion.

Some screenshots I’ve taken of the F-15E with max graphics.

Also whilst I’m at it some screenshots trying to recreate the F-15 shooting down a satellite. (Fantastic user skin by LeiteArts10 on WT Live, substituted the ASM-135 for the GBU-8 since they do look surprisingly similar).

Sorry if I’m making a mistake here, but is there a reason that all the F-15 variants in game are incapable of going Mach 2.5? I remember that the Streak Eagle was used in a lot of the records it set, but iirc the Eagle could reach 2.5 with an air superiority loadout.

It depends on weather conditions

pretty sure it was a stripped down version of the F-15E and yeah it can but it has to be pretty perfect condition

stripped down F-15A

the streak eagle flew long before the F-15E existed

F-15 Streak Eagle (AF Ser. No.72-0119)
An unpainted F-15A stripped of most avionics demonstrated the fighter’s acceleration capabilities. The aircraft broke eight time-to-climb world records between 16 January and 1 February 1975 at Grand Forks AFB, ND. It was delivered to the National Museum of the United States Air Force in December 1980. The aircraft is currently on display in the museum’s Research and Development Hangar.

and you can see that it has the engines/nozzles of the f-15a

ok

All service F-15s should be able to reach Mach 2.5 in a clean config. Even with minimal fuel, you can’t do that ingame.
It’s just gaijob and their “we believe that it’s marketing propaganda”

4 More SDB I on the wing pylon on the F-15E

IIRC it is not authorized, but… who cares.

Sources state the possibility of 28 GBU-39s
