F-14D as a squadron vehicle?

well, theres no issue with them, since they have quite a lot of CMs and normal RWR(at least enough to dodge Phoenix)

13.3-13.7
since it doesnt have HMS
maybe take current 13.7-14.0 and get them up by 0.3, then 13.7 would be fine

They were working on the aim-120 to be added, but they scrapped it and worked it to have TARPS. So the F-14D did not have the system set up to fire the 120’s.

Sort of. Northrop ultimately ended up being a sub contractor for the F/A-18, after a major lawsuit between them and McDonnell Douglas (a lot of it having to do with Northrop suing McDonnell Douglas for selling the F/A-18A to customers that Northrop was trying to sell the F/A-18L, and inversely McDonnell Douglas suing Northrop for using elements of the Hornet in the F-20 Tigershark).

To start out, Northrop and McDonnell Douglas were sort of on equal terms during the earlier stages of the Hornet’s development, due to the Naval Air Combat Fighter program’s rule of the competitors from the LFW program partnering up with a company experienced in producing carrier-capable aircraft. When the YF-17 was chosen as the winner of the NACF program, McDonnell Douglas was placed in charge of production and sales for the F-18A, A-18A (yes, originally the fighter and attack sides were split into a dedicated airframe), and TF-18A. Northrop was to produce and sell the F-18L, a lighter land-based version of the F-18A without folding wings, lighter landing gear, and additional hardpoints on the wings.

will be a tech tree vehicle and not folded because gaijin wish you to grind more and spend more time on this game.
change my mind

well, it was capable, only software update and rails
more realistic than double R-77 rails on Su-27SM for example.

dude they where so good we had to destroy all the wing boxes so the Iranians couldn’t get more

Unfortunate reason why tomcats will never fly at a US airshow

why i personally dislike iranian politicians

maybe one day they will raise money to custom manufacture parts for museum F-14’s, but thats very unlikely. would take a sucessful top gun 3.

wrong.

politics. the f-14 was better in every way

The F-14D SAC includes them in the center stations. We can see this here:

We also have this picture:

F-14D with 8x Aim-120s.

Noteworthy, as explained by the website Home of M.A.T.S., F-14A/B/D did not have the capability to carry and fire the AIM-120 because – even though missile tests were conducted – the integration of the AMRAAM into fleet Tomcats was rated as too cost intensive

No F-14 is mentioned on the US AIR FORCE website
https://www.af.mil/About-Us/Fact-Sheets/Display/Article/104576/aim-120-amraam/

Next we should talk about the AD-4 Skyraider getting sidewinders because it was used in testing

Well, as long as F-5C armed with AN/ALE-38 countermeasure pod
after her retirement from the USAF…

I think we can get AIM-120 on Tomcats if much of the US Mains are craving for it, too.

HOME of MATS is not a source. They don’t know anything. Plus there are several other sources that contradict that claim.

Idk if you know, but the Tomcat is a retired, navy fighter. There is no reason to link an Airforce website at all. But if you want to do that, here is what the airforce said on the matter:

“AMRAAM works with the newest fighters… the Navy F-14…”

So going by your logic, it should get Aim-120s.

Huh that testing model seems really too early to be any useful,… 4G at best, no Rollerons, and about range,… it might be worse than AIM-9B.

As secondary source, yes.
But you have not a single Navy F-14 that ever carried that.

Only the phoenix ever armed F-14’s in ARH missile type

120’s were tested on the f-14 but it was never implemented. The F-111 test fired the AIM-54 should that not have them available in game? The NASA f-15 was modified to fire modified Aim-54 should they now have that ability in game?

  • full scale mock up* is the key there. They were planning and adding them to the f-14’s but it was cost prohibitive and were just going to wait for ht f/a-18’s to implement the 120’s and never retrofit any f-14 other than the test plane.

Not USAF F-111.
There was F-111B, which was USN, predecessor of Tomcat

F14B with Pratt and whittney F401 as a sqaudron would be fine
