F-14AM - The Iranian Tomcat - History, Performance, and Discussion

F90 code is in the datamines now and it is just better in almost every way than the AIM-54A/C lmao.

  • Its boost stage has more raw acceleration than the R-27ER, with 96800N of force for 5 seonds, giving it almost the same raw acceleration as the ER (152.2 m/s^2 vs 157.93 m/s^2) but for 5 seconds instead of 3.2 seconds.
  • It has basicly a copy paste AIM-54 seeker.
  • its dV is one of if not the highest ingame for air to air missiles at 1349.3m/s
  • it has a better loft profile (double the omegaMax, the most important component of a good loft profile)
  • G load is slightly lower at 15g instead of 17g on the 54.
  • its max fin acceleration and deflection are very slightly lower.

Overal it seems to be the new king of long range, with more speed, more acceleration, and a better loft profile with a shorter burntime (so less visible) at the expense of a minor amount of maneuvrability.

Well, they haven’t even been delivered yet …
The aircrafts (which were either fully or at least partially produced for Egypt initially, before Egypt cancelled their order and instead Iran bought them) basically never left Russia …

Seems Fakour is like if the R-27ER and Phoenix had a baby. Strong acceleration with long range performance. Can’t wait to try out this missile in-game.

Not sure why they would decrease the overload from AIM-54

Also they set the propellent mass to 285kg: 210kg for the booster + 75kg sustainer

If we assume that the export AD-40A is a Fakour-90 without the boost stage (which it most likely is), 637 - 465 = 172kg should be the mass of the boost stage (which is missing from AD-40A) and 295 - 172 = 123kg should be the mass of the sustain stage.

worse seeker, less maximum deflection due to higher speed

I mean its pretty much exactly as expected, an even longer range skillcheck missile

Skillcheck implies only the braindeads will die from it, but as far as I can see, this missile has an acceleration on par with that of the MRAAMs while still being longer ranged. Launching these in beginning of the match from 50-60km away would probably surprise the good players.

Does anyone know if they ever upgraded the RWR to a modern one, I cant find anything talking about it but I would assume they did

That spread a lot faster than expected XD

Here is the same test for Sedjil

would it be possible for you to compare the Fakour-90 to the aim-54C, and the Sedjil to the Aim-7E2/R-27R1, just so we can see the comparisons of whats the best to take for the f-14 when it is released

Can you please do a test between AIM-54A and Fakour-90?

There will be no AIM-54C, only A

How’d you get those?? And can you post the rest?

i know, but as a test just to see if its comparable

Theres no good reason for them to hold back the AIM-54C anymore if theyre going to make the best long range AAM be a stupid event missile

I’ve increased altitude (8km) and distance (60km) a bit to make it more interesting.

Quite unnecessary, the Fakour-90 and Sedjil are probly vast superior to any other A2A missile in-game unless they change the performance of any. (Also saying this as I already tested the AIM-54C against both, it performs “as bad” as the AIM-54A against them.) *If these configs are the actual ones

ah ok

Oh boy … It’s not even a contest …
