It’s because they limited the fin deflection angle to 7.83 deg.
According to these pictures the fin deflection angle is around 25-30 deg, possibly higher.
And while, yes these pictures are at 0 air speed:
1- The Hawk missile, originally being a surface to air missile, would obviously be designed to be able to hit its 15G overload at lower speeds. So it would obviously have a high fin deflection angle, and not 7.83 deg which is virtually, by far, the lowest of any air to air or surface to air missile in the game.
2- The fins are symmetric rectangular with a center pivot, so the force required to actuate them and deflect them to the same angle, shouldn’t be much higher at higher air speeds (that Sedjil is flying at, compared to Hawk, or in general for a flying missile compared to a stationary one).
@sudo_su1 You have been keen to report the Fakour and Sedjeel, feel free to take that source and make the report to buff the Sedjil to 20G, improve the performance of that ordnance. Might make it worth bringing.
Additionally, @David_Bowie If the Sedjil (I-HAWK) can easily maneuver at 20G even in single plane, why is the Phoenix still being held back from reaching 24-25G?
I want to test the Fakour missile using vertical launch platform in-game and see if it performs to what is shown for the min range in the document, would you guys know what the elevation limit is for the MIM-23 HAWK launcher? @MiG_23M@sudo_su1
I see that, but what is needed to be known is the original MIM-23 HAWK’s SARH seeker gimbal limit and the launcher elevation limit in order to properly test the minimum range.
Knowing what the fin deflection and G load of a missile is, won’t be enough and might still leave maneuverability on the table if min range isn’t reported
1- WT doesn’t model reliability anyways. And this document is dated long after the missile had entered production and operational service.
Even if there were any modifications, those were just to further increase the reliability of the missile …
2- Seems like limiting the missile was only suggested as a temporary solution, before the real fix could be developed, with the final setting aimed for being 20G and 26 deg SL (selectively limited) with ERCL (Elevon Rate Command Limiter):
