I do agree that compression is the main kicker. It always was and will be unless gaijin starts playing their game. Harrier FA2 is trapped due to the BR convention of no amraam below 13.0
Ive played these aircraft a good amount and they are all outmatched by planes we find even whole BRs lower, especially the vampire family.
do think it could do with going to 12.0 within the confines of current compression. theres nothing it can do facing a F/A18 even as a strike aircraft that is unfair
I don’t see much of an issue if it went to 12.0, but I still think its fine at 12.3, it turns quite well and has AIM-9Ms on a platform that can get near transonic speeds which makes it usable.
The F-18A does have obvious advantages over it, and its one of those that should go up with decompression, where the GR.7 would stay put.
Although you still have IRCCM missiles where the F-18A doesn’t. And the GR.7 is not hopeless in a dogfight by any means.
gonna save us all from the wall of text and just say Sabre/Mig15 for basically all of these planes.
vampire/venom, F-84 Thunderjet or meteor
for the hawk t1a, meteor mk3 outclasses it quite easily, honestly the attacker is a solid pick vs it too. Albatross is the gold standard for such an aircraft, generally a superior pick and that 6.7 (6.3 GRB) or 6.7 (7.7 GRB) for the one with CCIP/
But we’re comparing the vampire to undertiered jets at 8.0. The vampire can still fly circles around them for a bit, its not easy prey because it requires some patience to trap it out of energy in BnZ passes, altrough the sabre can do it fast with good aim + OP .50 cal spam, the migs are easier to avoid by abusing their poor roll rate.
But you said it was outclassed by jets up to 1 BR below it, which is kinda outlandish tbh.
The vampire turns like the meteor mk3 without the annoying poor roll rate and high speed lockup, similar climb speed etc. 7.7 would be fair I agree.
The hornet argument can be made against all the other 12.3 too, except the F-16 which can win the 1v1. But I have more consistent/better results with the GR.7 than the F-16A.
F-16A is actually a good comparison because it shares the same playstyle as the GR.7, you decide between having faster and better FM or having actually useful missiles.
The 1v1 comparisons is not fully representative of the whole AirRB ordeal.
cant really call a mk3 meteor undertiered tbh. thats a solid example for a 7.3 aircraft. Thunderjet and 262 jabo ought to be the same br in all honesty. sabres and stuff of course but they are used as the baseline for these BRs with current BR restrictions annoyingly
Its got the same problem as the zero or hurricane. stupid people try and one circle it when all it takes is slighly climbing and its game over for it
a nerf to damage from rounds smaller than 15mm is needed badly man…
I honestly believe the mk3 to be a superior fighter as its actually able to take a vertical fight, its also got a better roll rate than vampire does. Vampires only edge is being smaller and having RP3 (as well as being better looking)
The mk3 does have a little better energy retention and can sustain higher turn rates by around +1.5deg/s, but it does not have a better roll. The vampire does, so in a 1v1 forcing the 2C would be preferable to the mk3 because it takes too long to roll the other way in a 1C fight.
But the behaviour of the mk3 at high speed is a very big hinderance when trying to do passes in a furball, so you need to slow down considerably to take good aim.
The vampire does that far better. They have incredibly similar acceleration/climb. The mk3 is only 7.3 because of the poor high-speed controls and roll rate.
Could just give the Fakour the same drag modeling buff that the other ARHes, sparrows and the AIM-54s just got.
After all, it is supposedly coming for all missiles and I would wager that such would make it’s high altitude performance quite amazing given it’s base motor delta V should not decrease, rather spike up hard.
What they could do is add the later variant of the Fakour-90 in-game, it swaps the M112 motor for an M190 motor. I’m not sure what it’ll do, but it could be a buff.
Another thing Gaijin could do is add the upgraded avionics from the Babaei Project, but finding information regarding the upgraded radar and RWR is extremely limited.
It would also be nice if Gaijin could add the Fatter missiles, which are essentially an AIM-9P or J with an all-aspect seeker.
