maybe, but at least its a all aspect radar
Maybe?… I would have to disagree personally I would have to say it is being held back by AIM-7M because it’ll go in a different direction and it’s definitely not as reliable as 7p-2 and could barely go toe to toe with missiles in 13.0+ and as for aim54s are literally skill check missile as anyone who can notch shouldn’t have a problem with them then theirs one of the biggest weaknesses of the aim54 is MCM due to how big it is. pretty sure if it weren’t for the aim54s it would potentially be lower in br like the f/a-18A/f-15A(yes ik decompression). they could definitely give it aim-7P-2 to make it actually useful in 13.0+ (even though theirs no source that proof the f14D can’t/can use 7p-2). Don’t get me wrong the radar definitely has good potential but with the right armaments
as in, it can actually lock aircraft in a rear aspect shot, as well as a ACM longer than 6 Miles, for me, those 2 things really held the F-14A and F-14B back, made it hard as hell to hop in between BS crew locks, for me the 7Ms work fine, although yes they can just go to space, ive noticed that now it only really happens when fired as the lock is struggling (flashing), outside of that, all my AIM-7s have actually gone after the target
I don’t think that’s the case. I’m pretty sure it’s something different.
Once the APG-71 loses track of a target, the target in TWS goes into TRK MEM (which I believe is basically IOG). The enemy continues moving, so the error between the target’s predicted position and the actual position shown on the APG-71 keeps increasing. On the next scan, the APG-71 treats the target, which has moved too far from the predicted position, as a “new target.” This then results in the loss of vector information and datalink information.
Although it isn’t TWS+, the N001 has a scan period of 3.7 seconds, which is actually slower than the APG-71’s 2.0-second update rate. However, it has a better ability to maintain track on targets than the APG-71.
I think TWS+ is probably the main cause of the whole issue. The Eurofighter had this problem resolved after its new scan pattern shortened the scan period. The Gripen has the same problem despite having an even slower 3.4-second scan period, but the PS-05/A has a 0.6-second narrow scan mode.
So I think the APG-71 could probably solve this issue as well if it had a new scan pattern.
So I was reading the F-14D and F-14A SAC documents and noticed the static thrust for the F-14D for A/B is 26,950lb(12,224kgf)
an intermediate is 16333lb (7,408.52kgf) In game it’s A/B is 10,230 intermediate 6,200
And for the F-14 412A
A/B is 20900lb(9480kgf) and for intermediate is 12350lb(5601kgf) in game it’s A/B 8020kgf and intermediate 4,860kgf
I’m I misunderstanding it?
channel losses
Finally found something about PAL mode

Dude same here im on stock right now and its a struggle to hit anything besides Bot planes
Specifically with the phoenix C+
And why are they not implementing TWS HDN to the F14D we need to report it
Could probably be used to bump ACM range for early F-14s to 18km which would help a lot
Anyone here flying either of the 14Ds in SB? I wanna know what are some of your experiences with the radar, outside of the bugs.
It’s really good imo. The radar paired with the rest of the kit makes it my favorite 12.7 in Sim. Since usually you can see people before they can see you.
That’s true yet personally, it’s shown to have some issues.
I’ve had reoccurring situations where I would have someone in soft lock, and any change in direction could lose the lock’s potency, sometimes completely dropping altogether.
Have you experienced anything similar to this?
Yeah, I’ve had some issues where the radar would just get stuck on Track Mem, or get stuck in ACM and nothing I did would fix it. :/
I appreciate you for answering, and yeah that one’s been vug reported by many of us from what I’ve seen, including myself.
I’m going to post of clip showing what I had described. I’m not really sure if it can be called a bug itself, it’s very abnormal nonetheless
You can see the target just, drop altogether here
Here’s another, though it was an attempted STT
Early F-14s never had PAL mode.
It was part of upgrade program of AWG-9 in late 80s to early 90s.
Still waiting for f14D to get aim7p
