F-14 Tomcat: History, Performance & Discussion

F-14D used the same AN/ALR-67(V)2 from the F-14B.

that has nothing to do with something being a US or Russian plane

the Mig-29M is worse for ARB the Su-30MK and still sits at a higher br bc it has the ability to carry 8 ARH missiles

where are you getting that the F-14D would be able to carry 8 amraams in the first place

I’m talking about a PW-220 F-15E as the premium instead. I think F-14D should be tech tree

what you think and what gaijin will do are probably not the same

Reminder… JA37DI treatment for the F-14D is not entirely impossible.

Although you have a point so I am keeping my expectations quite low.

What ron_23 said, it’s not about nation, it’s about gaijin setting up rules for br placement for fox-3 brackets. Technically they can limit F-15 to 6+2 but they are very careful with such decisions and only use them when money are involved (F-18A and C Early case, they literally stole 2 pylons from A to keep it 12.3 iirc)

Dunno i’m still VERY cautious… For the whole 14D thing.
The way they had the VX ones. They can use the VX to practically have AMRAAM/AGM-84 and HARM and whatever else… you can even slap it 9X and call it a day . The weapon test planes have shot near everything available. For test purposes , but they have.

No. It isn’t. J-11B uses a mechanical radar, in game it has Copy +paste stats from APG-70 on F-15E.

Look like Cluster bombs

APG-71

2x the AWG-9’s range of 370km

Spoiler

Same as F-15E (streamraid and advanced NCTR) with added AWG-9 modes like PAL. Interleaved modes to also have HPRF and MPRF at the same time. Also has radar and IRST/TCS conjunction modes along with Priority track modes for both radar and IRST via “digital scan control”.

37km in PAL mode, no documented improvement in other ACM modes except for the new IRST ACM modes.

Yes.

IRST

+/-75 degrees left right and down (up is very likely obstructed a bit)

TWS style display very similar to the main radar. Has TWS Auto, Manual, and Priority track. Work’s along TCS and radar. Has an imaging mode and ranging for passive track. Can also work in conjunction with LANTIRN or solo with ground attack modes.

At a very minimum, around 179 miles (using data from it’s predecessor the AAS-23) in best conditions according to reliable sources, but we also have a source that in less than ideal conditions the actual IRST reached further, around 190 miles against a KC-10 Tanker and 3 refueling F-16s clearly defined as separate objects.

Yes, both TCS and IRST can fire all types of missiles the F-14 can carry, from ARH, SARH, and IR missiles. See table above.

New DFCS

Very “simply”, DFCS won’t do much for regular flight, but it will take more aggressive control of the rudder (in a good way compared to ingame instructor), it will make flying smoother especially in Sim, and it’s main purpose is to significantly boost low speed characteristics and QoL. More AoA and better controllability while in it, and also includes slight engine control to further maintain roll and yaw stability when you want it. Flaps, spoilers, and slats now are more automated when you need them, but it’s really only when you need them, as that automation is not for manuvering specifically, but rather spin control. DFCS also includes an auto recover spin button and better carrier landing performance as it works in conjunction with DLC.

Should already have it on all tomcats, but it’s even more clearly laid out with the DFCS.

@ItzMikeyzWRLD-psn do you know if AIM-54C+ used Mk60 or the Mk47 motor?

Mk.47 mostly. Both models used both motors though.

I hope if they add the 14D with the C+ it gets the upgraded motor…

Still only 6 fox 3 and 2 aim9ms as you said

As gajin showed having more than 6 missiles dosent mean instant 13.7 for example su30mk2/ and tornado late have more than six missiles the thing that makes a 13.0/13.3 and a 13.7 is FM and the type of armament it carries along with avionics for example the F16C and F16A ADF (at least that how I see it)

Aww so the same range we have in the awg9 acm is probably gonna be same or will it be the same as the f15E?

Idk I saw something saying the f14D having access too alr67v4 but I won’t be surprised if it’s misinformation

Whats upgraded?

I don’t know. I have only seen the AN/ALR-67(V)4 mentioned in journalistic articles. From what I have read, the AN/ALR-67(V)4 arrived too late for the F-14D and the modernized F-14A/B fleet, as the aircraft were retired before a large-scale retrofit could be carried out.

The ALR-67(V)4 was essentially the ALR-67(V)3 used on the F/A-18E/F adapted for the F-14 and AV-8 through retrofit programs. Like the (V)3, it was capable of detecting threats at a greater range and identifying a wider variety of threat radars than the ALR-67(V)2 installed on Tomcat aircraft.

Oh okay

This is what I have been able to find while digging around on the internet, with every possible venue. I would be happy to be proven otherwise.
