Grumman F-14D Super Tomcat - End of a Legendary Era

the only thing that mentions the HARM being on any F-14

Given that Gaijin hasn’t even put a single thought into modeling dual plane for the Aim-54, I see it as imperative that the F-14D is added with Aim-120s. Without them, the plane will suffer heavily.

Gaijin thinks they know more than this guy btw

Clearest look at the APG-71 and PTID interface we’ve seen yet

Seems to be on TWS Auto

As someone who’s effectively spaded the F-14B for AirRB… (god help me)

We need the F-14D. Specifically, we need the F-14D with AMRAAMs, the APG-71, and properly working IRST.

Speaking of, some small bits of info on the IRST showed it had a scan size of 150 degrees (75|75)

Given that the IRST system was also used on the Eagles and Strike Eagles, I should be able to get an estimate range at the very least. Can’t rely on the 190 mile stat from the interview.

Possibly an 18 second turn from an F-14B during an airshow: https://youtu.be/nCcO6WVlanQ?si=iFoLajjnSU7sGVaw&t=56

I just want to mention, as an addition to the F-14D’s proposed camouflages/skins: while it wasn’t technically an F-14D airframe, I think it should receive the livery of the F-14B (BuNo. 157982) prototype, which served as a testbed for many different technologies that ultimately paved the way for the F-14D’s development. On its rudder fins, it carried the name Super Tomcat.

The livery really rocks the vintage look on the F-14 , and I can imagine it being added as a semi-historical camouflage obtainable from the Gaijin Market for the F-14D in the future. I actually saw this aircraft in person at the USS Intrepid museum a few years ago, and it was really impressive to see its size along with the AIM-54 firsthand.

I agree! Also, this is the only F-14 that has been all 5 US variants! Not just the B (or really, the C)

She’s been:

  2. F-14A

  3. F-14B
  4. F-14C

This is actually the airframe the mounted the F401s as you can see, from there it went to GE-F110s to test D standards
5. F-14D Super Tomcat

Now on the US Intrepid. The tester for F-14D avionics and aerodynamics. Most notedly testing the HARM and JDAM release stability.

It’s definitely the most iconic F-14 test livery just for that asymmetrical wing picture.

You mentioned the F14C, what was it? I always thought they just skipped the letter but now it seems more for testing D upgrades

F-14C was basically supposed to be the F-14D but with F401 engines instead of F110s. It would gain low speed performance but heavily sacrifice high speed performance, so luckily it wasn’t implemented as it was in testing. It also might’ve gotten a special HMD from what I’ve seen, before JHMCS.

Like a later JTAS (or whatever the F4J/S used) for use with the USN’s high manoeuvrability missile?

When they add this tomcat in people are gonna cry because its the last one.

i used to be against adding aim-120s to this thing, but atp it really needs it. would be either best 13.3 or mediocre 13.7 with amraams. I think 13.7 is fair for game balance, but they might add it at 13.3.
it’s just doa at 13.3 with only 54c+

F4F ice is 13.0 and mig 29 SMT is 13.3 will most likely be 13.3

it’s better than any 13.3 though with amraams

it should only be a bit better than F16ADF with aim120s as its heavier than the B model
