If anything they have done worse in 2 same versions on the same vehicle TT and premium/event etc.
It’s a smart move if you ask me. And pretty valid.
Now the question is why would they do that because they may lost sales, but the answer is most people buy the premium for specific reasons and they don’t have to really like the plane. If anything someone that likes the plane (me ) would even get both…! Why not? I didn’t need F-20, i took it anyway…i like the plane.
APG-71 was the best radar of it’s time and got surpassed only by APG-77 of F-22…
All aspect PD , better ranges, better everything… plane recognition (big problem in AWG-9, you even shoot on missiles) .
You can have sensor fusion when it will be available even.
It was way better than AWG-9 and it will be in the game as well. AWG-9 in the game is intentionally nerfed though.
? I don’t believe the APG-71 had ground scan modes. It was provisioned, but iirc it never got them. Also, the APG-71 being MPRF and being the best mech scan radar/best IRST ingame should be pretty effective in WT.

Is it just me or is the Radar on the bombcat just abysmal to use, the TWS ghosts and loses track all the dang time and it’s a bit of a hassle! Is there a different mode I should be using b/c of that? Strangely enough I don’t remember it being this bad back on the 14A 3-4 years ago
Really doesn’t help that the backseater doesn’t actually do anything with the radar to compensate for the lower technology level.
IRL the backseater would change radar elevation to scan more area of the sky, change radar modes and waveforms to help maintain contacts, etc while the pilot focused on flying. War thunder forces you to be both pilot and radar operator for a system that requires significant focus from the radar operator to be fully effective.
You fight things with lots of automation in their radar systems to allow them to function with one crew instead of two.

I bet the plan is to drop a super flashy teaser featuring the F-14D sometime this week, and then release a pre-order dev log 15 minutes later… Just how much money do they want?
i think they should add a feauture where they annouce things like the RWR warnings and stuff as it was passed a while ago and theres really no reason to add a 2 seater plane otherwise
