it wasn’t just that, Grumman was getting low on money due to multiple other failed programs mixed in with the amount of maintenance needed per flight hour being high as well as cost due to the wing box being out of titanium and the process of welding that in a vacuum, although the tomcats were promising, overall the F/A-18As were a cheaper option at the time even if the tomcat had more range and more speed, with a proposed F-14E super tomcat being looked at, it was dropped

I don’t know about anyone else is having the same trouble but i couldn’t get the f14B to Mach 2.35 most I got it to was 1400 mph and Mach 2.10 even at 30000-50000 ft it took forever just to get it at 2.10 with nothing on the aircraft was I do something wrong?
Is something like AIM-7R (AIM-7P with miniaturized AIM-9M seeker for terminal guidance) within the realm of reason for the F-14D? I feel that without AIM-120, the D it isn’t distinct enough from the B to be worth unlocking for anyone but enthusiasts.

I made a forum to see if people would like to see aim120 for the f14D so far its looking good and with the su47 passing to suggestions and if it gets added the f14D for sure can get aim120

But not from aircraft. In August 1996 , OPEVAL , from Spruance class Destroyer USS Elliot (DD-967) they tested the missile , RIM-7R , the same missile AIM-7R but from ship launcher…
But since it wasn’t tested on planes , i think they wouldn’t even consider implementing it on planes.

Iranian tomcat fits a bit here I guess. But shouldn’t the Iranian F-14 have an upgraded radar and RWR? By the time the Fakours were in service, didn’t the Iranian government upgrade their F-14 fleet?

If we go by F-14AM yes they should according to claims…but there is a BIG problem. There is no actual data.
Even the F90 specs are less than wikipedia valid. In game it’s completely fictional made to be better than the 54 because …it supposed to be an upgrade over the 54A Iran had.
Meanwhile the stats are closer to whatever 54C was and yet lacking things.
In general, modern indigenous Iranian mods have many claims, yet none to little data or even some kind of proof.

Yes. The thing has Fakours and the Paint Scheme of the F-14AM (Upgrade package you’re referencing) without any features of it like the software improved radar/Cockpit, R-73, and as you mentioned RWR. As far as we know though, only the radar software, R-73 and Fakour are compatible with their whole fleet. It’s currently unknown if the RWR switch made it past a single testbed.
F-14AM is phase 1 of 2. Next phase comes if and when Russia gives them a steady flow of electronic development and manufacturing when they get the SU-35. However, with the current revolution going on in Iran, if that succeeds, we could get some stuff about the Tomcat’s reveal since ITAR is not longer blocking stuff.

I think you misinterpreted my stance on this. I’m just a reporter here. I don’t think they should do this for various reasons. But this is a real upgrade proposal. The graphic I attached is a recreation and translated version of something they showed on in Iranian media in 2023~2024.
