the IRST dosent care about target aspect or chaff
Yeah but the cw illuminators on the sparrows/phoenixes still do so it’s essentially useless
I’m confused, what does that have to do with someone just notching the missile itself instead of the cw beam of the f14? I think it’s talking about the beam of the awg9
why would a UK document talk about the AWG-9
ontop of that a document that goes highly into detail about the workings of the seeker of the missile itself, that can be used with multiple different radars
With what doppler filter? As established it’s not going to proceed to track chaff. And Notching requires a look down geometry; inside the range gate.
IRL it is very much harder to pull of than it is in game(due to a bunch of abstractions); without active ESM.
so it is definetly not talking about the AWG-9
But is the AWG-10 & Sparrow, from which the AWG-9 draws its implementation from.
yes that is true
my point is (which i probably should have made clearer) that the radar isnt that important with a missile like the sparrow as long as the radar is compatible with it and the missile was integrated with it
It depends on the Radar’s implementation the Guidance waveform, either as with the F-4’s that use a dedicated FM-CW Illuminator that supports the AIM-7C~E & -7F, or the Later integrated PD-ILL waveform which supports the -7E-4 ,-7F, and later variants.
Does somebody can check current AIM-54s Station 1/8 drags in the game?
I assume current drags are too low.
Also can you see if the F-14 mounts the AN/ASA-63 or -83? “SEAM programmer” I know its got one, I just don’t know which. But it impacts which pattern it uses.
Because BOL is fundamentally incorrectly modeled ingame
They don’t dispense a single flare, they dispense a lot of sparks which create an “ir wall” between you and the missile
No info from -1 manual. Weapon stuffs are included to -1A manual.
Not even the name of the installed systems? I wonder if there is any HUD footage from the Gulf of Sidra Incident(s) as I’m pretty sure Sidewinders were used there, an may be able to intuit it.
Yeah, literally no infos in -1 manual.
Also, 1989 Sidra Incident footage was TCS, not HUD.
That shot infront of the thunderstorm is so damn cool
