F-117 paint schemes have the wrong fighter squadron insignia

The Default camouflage for the F-117 has the tail markings of the 9th Fighter Squadron, while the insignia on the left of the fuselage is from the 8th fighter squadron. This issue is reversed with the 8th FS camo, which has the 8th FS tail markings, while having the 9th FS insignia on the left of the fuselage.

Yes, I saw that as well, good catch.

These squadron patches denote the 49th TAC Fighter wing which during my time at Holloman AFB had the 7th, 8th, and 9th Aircraft maintenance Units, or AMU’s. On the F-117 in game we see two squadrons depicted, which should be corrected.

We see the 8th AMU patch on the fuselage and the 9th AMU number designated on the tail and reversed on the 8th camo scheme. It’s needs to be one or the other, not both.

Also, nostalgically speaking, the 8th AMU patch depicts a black sheep on an electric bolt, hence the “Black Sheep” Sqdrn. We commonly referreded to it as the “Electric Poodle.” The 9th AMU were the “Iron Knights”, or tin heads, the 7th being just what they were, Bunyaps.
