F-117 isnt stealth like it should be

Ah I see another one fell for a clear marketing lie

Stealth doesn’t make anything invisible, and it’ll still be trackable by radar

it’s just harder for conventional Mechanical radar and pure IR seekers

Strela can have an Optical seeker that’s really happy about the Black plane on the White sky and Pantsir has an Electronically scanned array radar which also has an easier time detecting Stealth than others

I’m curious, why isn’t distance relate to lock range? The closer you get the more you would reflect right? Or does the spread stay constant from the source?

the fact that you are uptiering the F-117 on purpose to a BR it shouldn’t even face in the first place and then complaining about said modern spaas killing it
this is equivalent to bringing B-29 to 13.7 and then complaining because for its time no fighter could reach its altitude

distance is technically related to radar echo strength but this only really matters on really large ranges in the hundreds of kilometers

at short ranges as we have in game and for the stealth of the F-117 the Wavelength of your radar is much much more important than the Distance

stealth has to be tailored to a small band of Wavelengths that are expected to be what you’re fighting in the vehicle, this is also why the SR-71 and the F-117, looked nothing alike and neither look like Modern Stealth jets

a smaller and a larger wavelength radar than what the aircraft is tailored to can easily detect a Stealth plane, this is why the Pantsir with K band and an Electronic radar can absolutely detect and engage the F-117 which was never made with K band radar in mind

to combat stealth it is best for a fighter to use a very broad bandwidth Like X band and for an AA system its best to use a mix of a small and Large bandwidth rader, which is exactly why most AA systems have multiple radars

Which wouldn’t matter because the bomb-bay doors were open, meaning the S-125 was able to easily track the F-117 at 23km - well within its radar’s 40-150km range (depending on the specific radar used)?

found these on google

im pretty sure how it works is on the ground it should be undecteble from below but anything in the air should be able to lock it

Heavily doubt this, given what its placing the -35 and -22 at lmao.

you can fact check it heres where i got them

I am attaching the article … there is a question of how much is true, I have not yet discovered another one, but apparently the question of how it was then will remain hidden for some time…

I’m more thinking about the overall stealth concept and development…
The more complex the systems, the more demanding the logistics, and if we don’t look at the vaunted stealth system, the second element is logistics.
The current Lightning II is also supposed to be an answer to logistical problems.
There are versions A-B-C. Conventional takeoff, STOVL and CATOBAR.
And they are supposed to replace 4 machines, 4 aircraft with completely different capabilities and requirements for combat (A-10_F-16_AV-8_F-18)…

I believe the F-35 can handle an air supremacy type fight…
Maybe it can also suppress air defense systems (Wild Weasel type combat operations), it can certainly handle the role of protector of the naval group’s fleet, it can handle reconnaissance operations…

I don’t believe that he can handle CAS, that is, he can handle it in such a way that it pays off combatively and economically, and I don’t believe that he can handle tasks for fighter-bombers…

Just one, albeit a modular one, it’s an airplane concept for everything…
It is clear why, with what intention, someone designed this plane,
but as they say when something is universal,
so it’s a little bit of everything and a little bit of nothing…

The F-117 is for narrow profile combat operations, this can be seen in the game…
And when a new, super-modern weapon is invented, a counter-weapon has long been invented somewhere else.

why is the F-22 an F-16?

That is not how a broadband seeker functions, it will still look for the biggest signal and go to kill it. Even if the biggest signal isn’t an “optimal” radar band. On the F-16C, the HTS pod is still going to detect the radar of a SA-22 and SA-2 for a AARGM shot on each. That’s the great thing about modern seekers, they don’t care what wavelength is in use as long as the signal strength is sufficient.

cool cool

for which Wavelength is this return?

if you cant lock onto a helicopter from 5k what makes you think you’re locking onto a F1117

This is this reason right here when I am left indifferent. Air movement causes friction but the paint made was supposed to also reduce heat. Unfortunately we probably won’t know how effective of mitigation it really was any time soon.

Just not Cessna drones.

I mean everyone can talk about stealth capabilities all they want, both IR and radar wise, but the truth is they are all too secretive for us to work out how they function, especially the non physical stuff, like materials. This however applies to every single top tier vehicle and missile we are about to receive.
