F-106A Speed at Altitude

So I ended up in a bit of a goose chase with a Mig-21 in the F-106. My F-106 is spaded, I have been flying straight for a good 3 minutes in this image, and my top speed never went over Mach 1.4. This is the altitude that the F-106 set the world speed record for the fastest single engined jet aircraft at Mach 2.4. However, I am nowhere NEAR going Mach 2.4, didn’t even get above Mach 1.5. Its the first time in a match I was able to get the plane to its IRL operational altitude and it didn’t achieve its IRL speed which is sad. I was still gaining on the Mig-21, maybe with another 10 minutes of flying I MIGHT have broken above Mach 1.5

I think the weight and drag of your missiles is slowing you down. There is likely something else you’re doing oddly as well.
I just took it to a test drive and it took me about 3 minutes to get this without even trying:

Mach 1.6 at half the altitude you’re at in that screenshot.

Edit, had the game running in the background while typing and when i tabbed back in it looked like this:

Edit2:
2 more minutes of flying:

I dunno, my missile bay was closed and their weight only reduces my top speed by 0.7km/h. Unlike the Mig-21 which still had two missiles on his wings having expended his R3Ses earlier. But this aircraft was designed to go Mach 2 at altitude with its combat load to intercept Soviet High Altitude Bombers. The only thing that comes to mind was that I was at a 3 degree incline to gain altitude while maintaining my speed. Worth noting that its service ceiling ingame of 13700m is still wrong as it should be able to climb to 17000m. Perhaps because I was just 300m shy of its ingame service ceiling I was experiencing issues.

They should not be able to generate drag while inside a closed bay, nor should their weight be enough to shave off a full 1.0 worth of mach.

13700km is well above the Karman line and into space. (I’m guessing a typo but still :p)

My bad, yeah it is a typo lmao

You might have climbed to fast, so you’re at a relatively high alfa to maintain altitude which means you’re unable to gain speed.
