As far as I know F-101 used the AIM-4, so… where are them?
F-101 flight model is holy terrible.
I simply can’t understand why add a plane incomplete that it takes to gaijin devs like 5 years to add the ordnance to a single plane… or even why add the most basic variant of a no-main aircraft, I mean, I understand why there are a lot of F-16s and F-15s because those are the main top notch USA planes, but F-101 wasn’t, so if the F-101 variant currently in the game is the most basic, why add it? they could simply added the most advanced variant of the F-101 made and be done with it.
I really do not want to research like 3 or idk how many variants of the F-101 there are to get the best if it is even planned to be added.
The F-101 is weird in the fact only a few versions had missiles and I think all of them had no guns so gaijin added a version with guns so it can actually do something… Plus adding a new missile means work and well.
The F-101C was a strike variant with only guns. The missile-carrying variant was the F-101B which didn’t have guns, and AIM-4 is clearly not good enough to be the only weapon. The only hope would be the F-101A, which had guns and technically could use AIM-4 according to some sources (though it never used them)
Would it even matter tho? AIM-4 is like worse than 9B, that thing at least has proxy fuse. And F-101 isn’t that bad of a dogfighter from what I can gather.
Well, they are already on a few aircraft like the F-106, but yeah, adding them to a new aircraft usually takes gaijin a few years. Like the J-35XS is missing AAM-4s iirc.
