The VT4 main battle tank still does not have side explosive reactive armor up to now; it has never had it since its introduction. This can be selected according to your customization, just like the Su-30MKK, Su-30MK2, Su-30MKI. In fact, China only displayed the VT-4, VT-4A1, VT-4A1 (APS), and VT-4B.

I wasn’t trying to ruffle any feathers. Generally speaking the more trees something goes to, the more accurate and the more detail is added. As well as the more it gets. Look at the Abrams- it went to three trees, so of course now it gets more accurate models, more access to certain rounds, etc. etc. etc.
What you said is indeed correct, but I still believe it belongs to a single model, as this is a different improved version under this branch of the model.
