IMO it would be a rather controversial with Su-30KI, like F-16AJ or Pakistani Oplot, since Indonesia doesn’t actually receive them

I tried to research more on the Su-30KI a while ago, but couldn’t find any trace on whether Indonesia even tested it sadly - well, otherwise I would’ve created a Suggestion already ofc.
Yeah, Su-30KI was still “in planning” as late as August 1997 (the Asian Financial Crisis just started a month before in Thailand). If Indonesia ever tested it, there will be articles about it in local aviation magazines so I doubt they ever did that.

This is going to be a reoccurring antagonist of Indonesia concerning weapon procurement plus end of cold war tacked on to it. Though that did not top Indonesia in sampling equipment (ground though) so Indonesia might become a bit of a Costco sample tree.
Pretty much almost everyone in ASEAN was affected, arms procurement wise. Thailand already ordered F/A-18C/D Hornet, and Philippines might’ve picked their 4th gen MRCA. I think Malaysia and Thailand also tested lots of ground vehicles, including latest MBT.

Thailand really got ripped off on there Hornets USA air force basically got some free aircraft from that financial issue.
Indonesia is the greatest example of what I will try to mint a Costco nation as they tested lots of vehicles over the years and did not buy any of them. Funny enough its not much of a loss for exporters to do these tests as they gain valuable insight in improving there vehicles.
Korea is going to learn a lot concerning there KAI KF-21 when it goes to Indonesia in tropical testing. The tropics and the sea are really hard on aircraft the Japanese would learn that the hard way in WW2 so would the Americans.

Talking about Indonesia they might get Kaan from turkey. If everything goes right Indonesia is going to have a strange air force.
Give them a decade they will buy Iran unmanned fighter jet drone Qaher with its jellyfish swarm slaved to KAI KF-21 with Kaan doing air patrols next to SU-57. Perfectly neutral as all things should be. (its a joke)

I always wondered if it’s related to the canard designs of KFX/IFX. Probably just a coincidence, but with the techbology transfer and both being semi-stealth 4.5th gen designs it wouldn’t be fully unexpected.
I really hope it works out, the latest scale models and renders for it look promising at least even if the jump from just avionics to a full aircraft like this seems insane.
it’s mentioned on the homepage of infoglobal website, so im sure there’s still interest there to develop it further, but yeah its more of a “wish” than a “will” as things stand
not to mention its being planned to be capable of working with a loyal wingman (unmanned air drones) like the Kizizelma, which we are indeed acquiring

the most recent news about it was back in 2025 when they show a scale model and a mockup cockpit

Honestly I’d prefer if 1 came in the tree and the other as a squadron plane for rank 8, breaking the cycle of yet another earlier Su-30 as premium (and less cas in the hands of newbies), maybe the fox 3 capable premium for Japan could be a domestic option like the F-15DJ(M) or something, maybe it’s just my preference?
It’s still far away in my opinion. Infoglobal products are mostly avionics and other aircraft parts, while combat jet RnD is not an easy task.
The more plausible project that they currently have at the moment is the WANI-23 UAV. It’s rumored to have its first flight in near future

here iam again butting in about the flanker
wouldnt the 27SKM be at 13.3 with the current BRs as it has the old engines just like the J-11A and the premium Su-30’s and also the same loadout options?

might just end up at 13.7 due it ending up being the best of the J-11A and MK flankers except lacking maws of the J-11A
