Everything wrong with the Mirage IIIS (and Discussion)

you have to make a loadout with them

Ah good, was just about to get it and was worried

Visual bug in the Hangar. They dont show up.

New item for the Agenda, no tracer rounds in belts that are supposed to have them.

I’m also finding the MiG-25 spam has basically rendered the Falcon useless, you can’t risk flying high enough to do anything with them… so you’re sitting at 10.3 with a pair of Aim-9E’s and your guns… Was fun while it lasted.

Well, the Mirage IIIS C.70 Agenda has been abandoned by GJ.

The Mirage IIIS still did not get the same sidewinder as the F-5E or the Hunter Mk.58, which is weird, because the Mirage III C.70 was the upgraded one which would have at least Flz Lwf LL 63/80.

The F-5E didn’t get the same sidewinders as the F-5E either… = (

To sum it up, currently those steps are needed to get the MIRO to where it’s supposed to be:

  1. Add Flz Lwf 63/80, 63/90 and 63/91 (AIM-9P-3, P4- and P-5) to loadout
  2. Correct wrong sight graphics
  3. Correct wrong radar ranges and search modes
  4. Add missing gun EEGS
  5. Add correct FLUNT (underwing tanks)
  6. Remove French SAMP bombs we never had
  7. Correct nosewheel modeling (Surgonflage)
  8. Correct Elevon movement

At the very least, points 1-5 should be tackled.

I would already be happy if they would add the Flz Lwf 63/80, which the Squadron Hunter at BR 9.7 has, which would not move the IIIS higher in its current BR10.3.

6 month an counting - stilll not fixed but accepted …

Tons of bug fixes on the to-do list yet Gaijin chose to invest on the infantry mode no one asked for

Sadly, true

Squadron hunter doesnt have Falcos nor radar and Mirage has better RWR and can carry 2x+2x missiles as opposed to Hunters 2x.

Im afraid getting better sidewinders would pretty much warrant higher BR.

The bigger question is why both Swiss Hunters have the same BR in AB and Sim : The Squadron one has better AAM’s PLUS AGM’s PLUS more Rockets PLUS RWR PLUS countermeasures, and is far superior to the older variant added later…

But Hunters in general are in very strange BR spots anyway…

Oh, definetively.

I have yet to play the TT one because I dont see reason to.

Regarding the AS-30 Nords that were removed from the IIIS, this BRM claims it was removed in the KAWEST upgrade.
Does the manual state anything about it?

https://community.gaijin.net/issues/p/warthunder/i/Iwps4qWf0xhe

I think that’s actually correct, and the manual of the KAWEST 85 version doesn’t mention the NORAS anymore at all. The Swiss actually abandoned that weapon quite quickly, because it was difficult to use and considered to be extremely dangerous to employ in a wartime scenario because of its MCLOS guidance, making the aircraft and pilot extremely vulnerable to enemy air defense.

What really brushes me the wrong way however is that in this case they argued that that specific upgrade variant didn’t have NORAS, therefore they removed it, but on the other hand that specific variant also never carried the AIM-9E but AIM-9P4/5, and absolutely no Swiss Mirage ever carried French bombs! And they use the same manual to argue one way while us using the same manual doesn’t have the same weight.

If you get yourself an account in “Bundesarchiv” you can read all documents related to the Swiss Mirage “ISMA”. You can read all details about the Swiss Mirage C.50, C.70 and IIIS+. You will find that the Sidewinders were replaced and the C.70 which refers to the 70% Canard Area. In the end the chosen type.

No more NORAS, but AIM9-Ps and clearly visible 4 aerial bombs.

Not sure which ones, but they are at exposition in Meiringen LSMM if someone has a chance to visit the Air Force exposition there.

We did have AIM-9P3 on the Mirage IIIS! For thos hopeing for the Mirage IIIS and AIM-9P4/5 never received it before its decomissioning. Only the Mirage IIIRS got them.

Those are JATO canisters for rocket assisted take offs.

That’s absolutely wrong: All Mirage IIIS and RC received all SIWA variants, AIM-9P-3 and later 9P-4 and 9P-5.

The 9P-5 is even specifically mentioned in the manual:

Also, why on earth would they add the more advanced missile version on a recce aircraft which only uses it for self defense, bot not on the main interceptor where air combat is the sole job?

2x 450Kg Bomben ;-)

Point goes to you about the AIM-9P5 ;-)

Swiss Govenment official source. I think GJ should stick to this

Yes, they could theoretically be carried, as that old pic from shortly after the introduction shows - but they were the Swiss Sprengbomben, like the ones the Hunter carries in WT, not the French SAMP bombs.

But the bombs were later never used or trained on, and they’re also not mentioned in the KAWEST manual.
