Eurofighter Typhoon (UK versions) - Technical data and discussion

oh man that sort of air defense.

Doctrines my guy. Home front doesn’t need it, because the RAF apparently might launch planes if they bother their arses and aren’t all out of commission, and apparently the Royal Artillery mastered the art of shooting at planes. With varying degrees of success, of course.

Oh you mean like actual air defence, yeah we don’t have that.

The Sky sabre batteries don’t have CAMM-MR yet either so they’re nowhere near comparable to patriot and a much more local solution, if they were to be credible they’d need to have batteries dotted all around the coastline and then more per major installation with some in reserve.

for us it makes no sense since there’s a credible threat from any angle. that and well in most cases we’d probably be grateful if they dropped a missile on us

Our concern is making sure they never have the opportunity to fire on us. Hence the point of, oh I don’t know, a decent Tri Service that can provide mutual support

First photo I’ve seen of a British Eurofighter with 2,000 lb Mk.84 bombs

Is there a kit to convert these into LGB’s availible or is that not a thing?

Also does the UK even stock dumb-bombs/2000lb bombs anymore or is that something that died with the Tornado’s retirement?

just wondering, what is TMC?

i would bet that we dont get them for the game

It’ll probably have been trials for the Saudis, Oman or another partner. The UK has never had dumb 2000lb Mk.84s in our own inventory, though most aircraft we have are cleared to use them from NATO stocks.

All our 2000lb bombs were BLU-109 equivalents, to be used with (E)PW-III guidance kits. But as you say they aren’t really around any more in the RAF either, and the capability is covered by a Paveway IV variant, and Storm Shadow on Typhoon.

None the less, Typhoons have been cleared to drop 2000lb bombs in various guises. Oman and Spain use Mk.84s with a Paveway II guidance kit (GBU-10)

though it would be, but thank you

I think I can make a fairly strong case for the UK (and by extension Germany / Italy) getting the TMC based on what I’ve seen in various documents.

i dont see why we wouldnt be able to get them either, we could atleast a TMC on each wing to bring the total missile count to 10 and be on par with future SU27/30 variants

I can imagine the issues with having 10 Meteors slung under wings, fighting a (insert generic Russian plane) with R-77-1s.

I’m pretty sure we’d win every time

yeah but i also imagine by the time we get meteors they’ll have something on par or better as per usual

what would they have? The only thing with comparable range is the R-33 (SARH) and R-37 (ARH) which are both anti AWACS missiles and inevitably as a result, most likely suck at taking out fighter sized targets.

big phoenix ahh missiles
gaijoobles would probably give the soviets that r-77pd

but tbh i dont think we’ll be getting the meteor soon anyways so thats not really a concern

they could always try for R-77M by that point ig, or other experimental/tested variants

r-77m lol

Gaijin just needs to copy and paste the speed and engine operating time of the fakour90 and add an extra 35G overload to create an R37M Xdddddd
As for whether the R37M can kill fighter targets? Gaijin could respond by referring directly to a previous example of the Russian Air Force shooting down a Ukrainian SU27 with an R37M

Nah. It’s political. They’ll just pull up some random source that says it’s a good missile instead of the piece of soviet shit it actually is.
