its not consistent is the thing, so it may eveb be multiple. Sometimes it just requires multiple button presses, others its for the entire game. One time i couldnt even spool up my 9ms… They took it out the oven 30 minutes too early with this one.
As in being unable to launch the 120s? I have had that a few times. I think I clipped it but wanted to check it wasn’t just me being low iq
What’s the current state of the EFT radar? How does it compare to the other top tier jets?
Not the queen’s cup of tea as they claimed it was going to be.
Very frustrated on the radar performance very hit and miss, keeps locking over a plane and states its not moving, its not on IRST then when it does lock takes awhile for the missile to actually spool and while am trying to get the bloody thing to shoot im not doing any defensive flying and die cause the other plane fired waaaaay before i should of.
Then sometimes the HMS PD locks in place and im unable to change or even lock a target. people have said before but i thought i get it off my chest too :-)
I have flown other top tiers jets like the f-15s and obviously tornado f3/gripen and the problems i have said doesn’t feel to be a “Radar problem for everyone” just feels like a low ranking radar on a top tier jet very disappointed. Overall im still loving the Eurofighter when it works its an absolute beast.
Its basically a C&P Blue Vixen from the Sea Harrier FA2 or Gripen at the moment and is missing all features unique to the CAPTOR-M.
So its really hard to compare to most at the moment
Yeah, throwing another ancedote on the pile. Had it happen a few times tonight. AMRAAM ignores any inputs for several seconds straight and I either miss the launch window, abort or switch to a 9M instead. No clips unfortunately.
Are you sure it didn’t switch to the irst?
It’s about 30-40% of target performance. And about 20% if we talk about IRST. The numbers are extremely extreme, just to give an idea of the scale.
Can’t say for sure. I didn’t hit the keybinds to switch but lock was maintained and sidewinders could lock so it’s possible it switched. Will keep an eye out next time it happens.
Had it happen to me last night as well, what most likely happened is it switched to irst to maintain the lock. Hence why you could still use an aim-9m and not the aim-120.
Here is a bug report i made for the not correctly working HUD symbology for the EF
https://community.gaijin.net/issues/p/warthunder/i/WYDSrC24X8sY
Thats how it is supposed to look:
I also made a bugreport about it as seen in the post above
Is it normal the EF has as the lowest radar scale just 23 miles and not maybe 12 miles, in TWS mode with more target the radar get’s messy
Top scale radar by 160 nm it’s so ironic. It’s like a reminder, “Look, these are the distances I’m designed for, but you don’t have that.”
Okay, just had it happen to me multiple times in the same match. It’s not IRST (or at least, not blatantly so). It’s TRK MEM. Sequence is:
Pick up target on TWS > Lock Target > Lock degrades to TRK MEM > Attempts to cue AMRAAM fail.
The whole time though the lock tracks accurately, even against manuevering targets just like a normal lock would.
The entire area was dense with clouds, with crap visibility so I’m confident it’s not IRST.
Edit: I also got the Acquistion bug that mission, whole thing locked up on me and I had to turn it on and off and switch into IRST to clear it. Video of it from my local replay (server replay link is here:Gaijin Entertainment - Single Sign On), the switches to TRK IR are my attempts to lock sidewinders and not the cause of the failed AMRAAM launches.
Pretty sure TRK MEM is when the radar goes into inertial track as the lock has degraded too much to be kept, which then means its not actually tracking the radar target its just tracking where it thinks it would be if it kept flying the way it last saw it flying.
Likely just another side effect of how garbage the CAPTOR-M is in-game, its unable to hold its lock reliably enough lmao.
Idk whats going on with it, some of those locks its going into TRK MEM are head ons with closure rates in excess of 600m/s or lookup’s into open sky. I’ve attached the video and replay to an existing bug report on the ARMAAMS not locking, so we’ll see what comes of it.
