Eurofighter Typhoon (UK versions) - Technical data and discussion

Do brimstones really not have any type of backup GPS guidance on Brimstone 2 or 3?

At least the EFT is quite good at filling the CAP role with its IRST, coming with 6 9ms and no radar allows for silent shots, especially against the heli scum.

Brimstone 3s got an upgrade to its Inertial guidance. What that actually means I dont know, but maybe could translate to 0 drift IOG in game which would give us a psuedo GPS guidance for them. But they were small. 3 to a mount requires that and they were always meant to be used with MMW within the context found in WT and so GPS is largely unneeded.

If you need to hit something with GPS guided weapons, you used PW4s or Storm Shadows

Ah well was worth asking about i guess. But afaik, GPS guidance section isn’t that big so no reason to not have it on Brimstone tbh

I was wondering about that, so brimstone are not gps but simply Inertial guidance. GPS, no matter how bad, would have given highly accurate information no matter what, so wouldnt give us the amount of drift we have in game rn lol.

Remember it started development in 1996. SPear-3 has GPS because the range and technology better allow it. But back then. The Brimstone was designed for a Tornado Gr4 to ripple of 12-18 of them at a small area using IOG and the MMW and communication systems to go and find 18 different targets on their own and blow them all up.

Well yeah, that’s why I asked about newer Brimstone 2 and 3

2 replaced the engine giving it 200% increased range

3 replaced the battery and INS kit

I cant recall any other modificaitons they got off the top of my head

Never really needed them, Brimstones where originally pitched and developed as a mass anti armour weapon, akin to cluster bombs without all the pesky regulations. The SAL was largely a backup solution to fulfil a need for long range precession strike on moving targets, so GPS was never really considered.
SPEAR 3 is more a replacement for paveways rather than Brimstone

whats the difference?

Also Man-in-the-loop capability in an urban enviroment

Something i think they should add is the ability to decided what munitions you are actively guiding at any one time. Would allow us to ripple fire multiple brimstone at a time on different targets but not have them all go for one after another. Could also lead to the ability in the future to guide friendly ordinance in from air or ground vehicles.

What i would do to sit in my buccaneer in low earth orbit guiding in bombs in my desert storm camo.

Now there’s a bad idea if I’ve ever seen one.

Would allow DL on the PW4s as well

1st is just radar, 2nd is laser + MMW I think

Thereotically this is how it should work, but according to a pilot account and some sources from a bug report, the Eurofighter is apparently limited in angle-of-attack to around 25 degrees AoA. This is around the IRL’s F-16’s limited AoA. The Rafale though has a higher maximum AoA limit IRL.

I havent said the Rafale speed radar etc… should be nerfed, why are you lying?

I like the Rafale and thinks its a fantastic aircraft. Much like the EFT, it has many outstanding bug reports which would improve its performance. What I have said is that considering its already the best jet in-game, it should be the lowest jet in terms of bug report priorities from the devs.

Ive also said it shouldnt have its HMD and 2 extra MICA’s, but in exchange should have properly modelled MICA’s. And said properly modelling MICA’s now that its been giving the HMD and 2 extra missiles is asking for too much atm.

I had a debate over weather its IFF should be able to continuously show targets independent of the radar without emissions. And Ive bug reported its MAWS since it ahould not have full spherical coverage, and argued against passive missile time to target from DDM-NG because as far as available info goes, it does not have that capability.

Y’all act like im some kind of Rafale anti-christ simply because unlike the other ppl that like the Rafale, I dont pretend its the second coming of christ that works on pure magic, just a very capable and very good looking jet that is not currently in need of any additional buffs as it currently stands in WT, and that makes you guys angry for some reason.

Wouldn’t surprise me, the British government is known for its… Frugality. Why have the expensive jet be pushed to the limit when it could instead be limited to the flight envelope of a Cessna.
