Loadout options are always a balancing decision. But when we have 15km laser guided AGMs vs the 60km IR+IOG AASMs the Rafale has. The least they could do is give us Brimstone 2s which the Typhoon actually used, even if they are still restricted to SAL
Heck. Even just giving the Typhoons their full compliment of GBUs would be a start.
Honestly still confused why they couldnt give us IR Brimmstones considering they made tv martels fire and forget. And 15km is confident when your either facing 4 pantsirs at any one moment in time or competing with the 3 su 27s already up killing the enemy team.
Ive had more like with dumb bombs, .plus its always nice getting fan mail complaining about cas despite sitting in their pantsir just after i had shot them out the sky seconds before.
At least the EFT is quite good at filling the CAP role with its IRST, coming with 6 9ms and no radar allows for silent shots, especially against the heli scum.
Brimstone 3s got an upgrade to its Inertial guidance. What that actually means I dont know, but maybe could translate to 0 drift IOG in game which would give us a psuedo GPS guidance for them. But they were small. 3 to a mount requires that and they were always meant to be used with MMW within the context found in WT and so GPS is largely unneeded.
If you need to hit something with GPS guided weapons, you used PW4s or Storm Shadows
I was wondering about that, so brimstone are not gps but simply Inertial guidance. GPS, no matter how bad, would have given highly accurate information no matter what, so wouldnt give us the amount of drift we have in game rn lol.
Remember it started development in 1996. SPear-3 has GPS because the range and technology better allow it. But back then. The Brimstone was designed for a Tornado Gr4 to ripple of 12-18 of them at a small area using IOG and the MMW and communication systems to go and find 18 different targets on their own and blow them all up.
Never really needed them, Brimstones where originally pitched and developed as a mass anti armour weapon, akin to cluster bombs without all the pesky regulations. The SAL was largely a backup solution to fulfil a need for long range precession strike on moving targets, so GPS was never really considered.
SPEAR 3 is more a replacement for paveways rather than Brimstone
Something i think they should add is the ability to decided what munitions you are actively guiding at any one time. Would allow us to ripple fire multiple brimstone at a time on different targets but not have them all go for one after another. Could also lead to the ability in the future to guide friendly ordinance in from air or ground vehicles.
What i would do to sit in my buccaneer in low earth orbit guiding in bombs in my desert storm camo.
