You can see a prototypical version in the following video of the LANTIRN navigation pod, where it slews Left & Right, yes it might be displayed on the HUD not a HMD but it’s not much further to having it cue to a HMD LoS like the PNVS does for the AH-64.
We even know that the Basic F-16s for example could have been wired (As per MIL-STD-1553)for it, had it received a HMD.
I noticed that too, and it feels so limited compared to before. I should be able to pull lots of AoA and even tumble out of the sky in full real, but no, it feels like a Mig-29.

UPD. - The radar is also worse now… Somehow… It takes half a year to get a TWS contact + It completely misses the vector at first + it drifts by A LOT afterwards, ghost contacts etc. are still present.

Played a few games in Typhoon, now let me preface this with I do not have another 14.0 aircraft.
My only reference point is Typhoon.
Changes to the FM have turned it from being a fast, agile jet to a fast ponderous jet, it doesn’t turn well at all at any speeds…(G limitation is not indicative of ability to turn)
Canards feel like they do not influence the FM at all and instantaneous turn rate while over performing in the last update doesn’t feel like that Gen 4.5 unstable airframe (I have the Su-33) and that currently has a superior instantaneous turn rate…Even clean the Su-33 is far more responsive.
Typhoon feels like it is being artificially held back and the FM is clunky and feels incorrect.
I shouldn’t have to use the AOA button to turn better.
Radar is improved, still not close to what the Russians and the French have but it is improved.
It does find things.
MAWS range detection for the ADATS in the test flight arena 3km before the MAWS saw it in level flight…
So much for that 9km range or the new “missile heating” mechanic.
I see the Typhoon needing further refinement or we are all going to have to fly in full real controls to be unlock the performance.
So far on live: MWS feels fine… ish? seems to randomly go off on invisible threats occasionally and the ±45 hurts compared to the spherical coverage on e.g rafale. It also doesn’t seem to use the MAW to identify threats whatsoever, and only correlates with the RWR like any optical MAW resulting in it (attempting to) flare radar missiles. It’s also, for whatever ungodly reason, worse at detecting burnt-out missiles than optical systems with “half” it’s range. Testing against rafale I found that while my MAW correctly detected an incoming MICA at approx. 10km according to its stats (which is still far too short to properly react at altitude), the rafale’s MWS, with a claimed 5km range, detected my AMRAAM at almost twenty five kilometres and correctly reacted.
Radar also feels fine… ish. It’s slow and jumpy and misses the target entirely at first, then drifting all over the place (but only visually? switching on the missile seeker shows it tracks the target perfectly.) Definitely better at tracking on 60 and 140 angles than before.
The agility is abysmal. I have serious doubts that a hornet should be able to handily beat a eurofighter. You can’t pull hard enough to reliably win in the first turn, and beyond that turning off the AoA limiter is suicide, as it slams the rudder everywhere below 700kph and rapidly becomes uncontrollable. It’s also much harder to pull any remotely high AoA manoeuvres in (despite being a delta canard)… on top of that, even though it’s unable to get any AoA worth mentioning like before, the drag numbers go through the roof the moment you manoeuvre causing you to stall in relatively mundane turns, particularly above about 2km.
Oh, I’ve made a couple of CAS runs. I’m changing my opinion. It’s not harder to use it now. It’s unpleasant, punishing and near impossible at times. IT TURNS LIKE A DAMN TORNADO WITH Paveways 4 NOW.
Flight model is very much being artificially limited by Gaijin.
It’s even funnier fly to the edge of the training arena at high alt and speed and then when it comes up with you need to turn around…You physically cant!
The game will loop you spawning in forever you cannot pull enough AOA to turn and avoid the map barrier.
Is it just me or has the TWS become unusable compared to the previous version? When I select NA server from SA, my ping is around 200 on average, could that be the reason?
