if the PL12A,R77-1,120D already half-way through the RWR/MAW sphere → its joever
You can use all your CHAFFs on the EuroFighter and my Aluminum Foil roll I put in the kitchen cabinet
The simplest answers to most of these issues would be to add a threat detector to modern RWR with the ability to tell wether a missile is closing in or out and filter out missiles that aren’t threats
Its just that they made it that way to force you over-defending while the reality is just the enemy just chase your six and force you to notch to close the distance.
You can manage to kill them in 1v1 but at the cost that no speed/alt left if you have to welcome the third customer .
In my experience, BOL-CM (1 pop) is overwhelmingly inferior to Large-CM. I’m basing this on the Eurofighter and the 30SM2, since both let you track missiles and tell in real time whether you can notch them. To put it bluntly, BOL-CM is crap. I use 4-chaff bursts pretty frequently to make up for it, but it still feels a lot more vulnerable than Large-CM—its effectiveness seems to be around 75%, in my experience.
in sim
Large-CM (1 pop / 1 sec) is actually much more powerful than EFT-BOL (4 pop / 1 sec). I hope you unlock the 30SM2 and Eurofighter and try them out for yourself—you’ll be surprised by the difference in performance.
That’s a given, the comparaison is more between standard and BOL.
Large CM are really good at any ranges, standard less so.
See the discussion above. The standard and bol chaff are both picked up at about the same range. However the RCS is very different (which is what the report mentions). I don’t think however that there’s a linear correlation between the RCS of the CM and its effectiveness for radar CM in game.
Even current double irccm missiles are basically unflarable after launch, buffing bol wont do anything to make IIR counterable unless they overhaul irccm and add rng elements to flaring like most other milsims do
It’s a shame there isn’t a platform that lets us compare standard CMs under the same conditions. 🇺🇸 please add a swashplate soon.
I’ve posted this before, but according to Catwerfer and his cm tests, these are the ranges where cms are picked up by arhs missiles (and thus allow the plane to notch). afaik, these are taken at 10km alt against an F-15 in the notch.

Is this in miles?… If it’s Km, this figure isn’t reliable based on Sensor View or my experience playing.
From the video, these are only for the specific test conditions and serve to show the varying distances of which chaff gets picked up. In actual gameplay, this is much higher.
I hate to disagree with him, but in this case, I think a range plot based on distance feels more appropriate. That said, it’ll be hard to create conditions that match the number of trials.
no way to tell whether each of these values is maximum or minimum.
I believe that these are sufficient to get a “feel” of how effective the different size of chaff is. They’re probably averaged values taken from a series of tests also.
