Eurofighter Typhoon (UK versions) - Technical data and discussion (Part 2)

Meteor wasn’t, it was a full inert round. PW4 was mock up sure.

Just flying around in a custom and I took an R-27ET. zero warning, well within MAW parameters. gonna check the replay and see if I can find it.

I know the MAWS isnt full coverage (based upon current sources), but I did notice the other day its really really tiny window at the moment. Doesnt feel right at all

It was front on and about +15 on the nose, but I had nothing, Unfortunately can’t find it in the replay.

If nothing else. Would have been the front aspect MAWS provided by the PIRATE which isnt currently modeled iirc

Amazing content, thanks mate

Typhoon still needs a better or comparable missile. A close range duel and you lose every time because of the 90s missile you are forced to carry.

MICA under 8km is a death sentence you cannot avoid it, if you do it’s luck
R-77-1 close range shots again very hard to defeat, R-73 is easier to defeat if you cut throttle and flare.

But all you have close range is a 120 that wont hit and a 9M that pulls no G. Just do not trust the 9M or the 120 to get the job done be it A,B,C whatever the designation and likewise a 120 doesn’t scare me.

Yes you shouldn’t get into close ranges but that cannot always been avoided. There isn’t an odds are against me I will return to my friendly base and fight another day button.

force the merge and win

You lose close range, that’s the issue.

If they have missiles you will die, Rafale MICA is an easy kille
Su-30 R-77-1 can loop around and hit you.

You have to maintain the perfect level of separation

you do not use, your gun

Gun when they have missiles and HMD and the missiles can pull the G to hit you is not your best asset

jam the wez

Or give Typhoon a comparable missile so I don’t have to jump through hoops

If we are talking about fox-2’s then there’s not really a comparable missile that’s not IRIS T or asraam.

When it comes to fox-3’s the only thing that could have come close was the pre nerf aim-120C5

Don’t get in WVR combat

You dont always have a choice and in ground battles you never have a choice

Aye fair enough

If the moment ever comes to dogfight with the Eurofighter, whether in RB or SB, what I do is simply first fire an AIM 9M head on.

If they manage to dodge this stage and we get to the merge, I always reduce speed to between 750 km/h and 850 km/h to get the maximum instantaneous turn rate possible with the Eurofighter and force the tightest one circle I can, so that neither the R-73 nor the MICA can turn tightly enough to hit me. From there, it’s all about skill, winning in two or three more turns.

Now, if you create enough gap, at least 800 meters, at low speed and they fire a MICA or R-73 and kill you, then you did something wrong.

I suppose experienced Eurofighter pilots like you guys already know this way of flying the Typhoon.

This way of flying has always worked for me, although sometimes there’s an external factor that messes it up.

It’s when you suddenly merge, if you know you are going to merge you can do that. Problem is at mach 1.2-3 on the deck dropping speed that quickly for the turn isn’t always possible. The Radar still isn’t great finding a lot of the time it’s not always seeing whats around me in TWS mode.

That Rafale you are merging withs MICA will kill you even if that 9M connects.

Bruh I just realized that EFT still have the same MAW as other aircraft (other than 360 Coverage like Rafale). I thought EFT at least have 60 degree vertical coverage instead of 45 degree.
