Eurofighter Typhoon (UK versions) - Technical data and discussion (Part 2)

Only those that are moving

TWS GMTI works on all Surface/Ground targets?

Only if the target is moving.

if its static it does not. TWS SEA would detect static naval targets too. Small thing, but would be nice in SB

seems like the fundamental problem cause by TWS+ still remains (not only on the EF but on all TWS+ radars)

see how the target box twitches around whenever the scan pattern finishes (and the gohsting on the second target)

ghosting on the targets makes sense since it went into a notch

Please don’t just test against notching MIG-15’s in test drive. Actually use it in game please.

Did you ever hear back about Aim-120C5 LSZs?

Edit: actually looks like it might be reasonable

my point is that TWS+ is still doing the same stuff
seen by the twitching of the radar box when the scan pattern finishes

means the target only gets updated at the end of the scan pattern and not when the radar beam actually passes it

I’m doing the unthinkable: i’m going to test it in arb

will report back on findings

edit:

it has been 15 seconds. this looks promising.

that’s the entire point of tws+ no?

which is why scan patterns taking 2.5ish seconds to update is good, means it refreshes every 2.5ish secs.
this is why j-10/29smt radar always have felt amazing.
only time tws+ is really bad is on initial target acquisition/first pass, after that it’s fine

i’m in love.

but it dosent get updated when the radar beam passes the target

so please tell me why would the radar not update the target when it is illuminating it

that is the problem behind TWS+

it does definitely update, just doesn’t show it on radar until the scan pattern is finished

Okay. Typhoon is officially back in the fight. First match. 3 kill game (should have been 4, someone stole the kill)

All I need now is it updating targets outside the scan sector…

that is not true as seen in my clip above the radar box only updates when the scan pattern finishes
and not when the beam passes the target

and what kind of bs is that it updates it but dosent show it

the radars whole job is to keep me informed on where the targets are

what i mean by update is that it updates its track file when it passes over it, it just doesnt show until the end of the scan pattern

and you are trying to tell me that is how it is supposed to work?

the radar is supposed to feed me outdated information?

im just saying that’s how tws+ works, which is fine

outdated by less than 3 seconds doesn’t really matter
