Previously if you tried to lock PIRATE in search mode, it would misplace the locking box and you’d have to drag the nose (and as such the locking box) over your target. A target you might not even have visually spotted yet. Making it pretty hard to use in search. Well no longer.
Damn that’s a shame, but a good improvement anyway.
At the same time do you know if there’s been any advances for adding the PIRATE MFD display? Or fixing the gunsight on the HUD? Been some of my biggest wants for flying in Sim and VR.
All logged reports for sure, but the focus of this update was to make the EFT sensors more dependable, less so about adding some of the secondary missing pieces.
I’ll chase up any extras once the dust has settled but for now enjoy CAPTOR-M and PIRATE functioning.
EF-2000, Typhoon FGR.4, F-2000A — the size of the scan zones in TWS mode have been changed to make their use more convenient. The tracking and matching of “tracks” (information about targets in radar’s computer) with “contacts” (valid received radar beam reflections) of targets have been improved in all TWS scan modes, which reduced the amount of “phantom” targets appearing on the radar screen. The limitation on the speed of roll stabilization of the radar scan zone has been removed, as the electronic stabilization of the scan zone has been added. TWS GMTI mode for tracking ground targets has been added. The IRST’s target acquisition speed and scan speed in a wide scan zone have been increased. Scan zone roll stabilization has been added to the IRST.
I’m liking the really narrow scan, especially at the start of the match, it is tall enough to make you scan targets above, in front and below without having to manually point the antenna.
Before this the box was so small that you’d lose a lot of time just trying to casually point the antenna at parts of the map, way more reliable now.
i dont have the EF, but am high enough in brit tree to test drive it, seems after the update it tries to lock TWS targets in GMTI if you cycle through radar modes?
cycling to TWS only and locking works fine, but if you passed it and have to cycle back past GMTI back to TWS it tries to lock air targets in GMTI
Nah you have always been able to cue A2A weapons in TWS GMTI to ground targets, its largely useless haha. You might get the odd meme kill but the missile never tracks the target so just harmlessly crashes in the ground near by.
