Eurofighter Typhoon (UK versions) - Technical data and discussion (Part 2)

So, this Instructor bug with the Typhoon… has anybody else noticed it’s just getting worse, and worse? I’m ending up toggling the AOA button, just to find out it wasn’t turned off the entire time, the plane is genuinely that clunky to fly currently.

Edit: yes, I fly mouse pointer, due to using an Xbox elite controller, trying to learn MnK for WT.

What’s wrong with the Typhoon instructor?

No clue, maybe he means the other Typhoon, the Prop one

Mouse aim would be my guess. In any configuration jet feels horrible to fly. Prefer the Gripen

I have noticed a slight bit of… squirreliness in certain maneuvers, especially at higher alts, which doesnt quite feel right, but im not sure if its suppose to do that or not. So this might be what they are referring too, though it might be something else

What’s even more infuriating about this radar is that it will lock literally anything other than what you want it to. You hit lock on a headon F-15 at 30K feet and instead it locks an abeam F-16 on the deck over 40 degrees off your nose. I even just had the thing decide to change hard lock from a headon F-18 at 4km to a missile which was directly abeam which caused my AIM 120 to completely miss a shot which it never should have. I can’t believe Gaijin could ever consider the thing even remotely workable.

When I fly the Eurofighter with a joystick in sim mode with damping, sometimes I notice it flies a bit diagonally, but it happens very, very rarely. With the Gripen, when I used to play it before the Eurofighter, I did notice it all the time, it was like flying while constantly drifting straight. I don’t know how it is now.

You arent going crazy either. I too recall that yaw drift.

Exactly that

Yep happens a lot
you can be aiming at 4 contrails up high, coming straight towards you at <40km, but the radar will lock an F-16 hugging the treeline 30deg off to the right.
Or another one it loves to do is lock “rockets” rather than the massive RCS signature behind it… you know, the plane shooting at you. I agree with you it has to be on purpose, just like with the Chally 2

the artifical horizon is still cliping outside of the mfd and the throttle percentage is also cliping out of the display

yeah this is how it is supposed to look like

I’ve got a report up for the misalignment and scaling issues in the EFT cockpit. The fix quoted in the news post was for the issues generated on dev.

We went from Working (Pre-Leviathans), Broken (Dev-Leviathans), Super Broken (Dev-Leviathans).

The fix got us from stage 3 back to stage 2 again. And my report is to get it back to stage 1 (working Pre-Leviathans).

Would still be nice for them to take us all the way back to stage 0 with backlit cockpit buttons we had on storm warning dev

(no one would mind that they were totally static)

Well, someday we’ll see EEGS. (abs. copium)

Yeah this is a big want for me, like yes the buttons are for different modes and we don’t have those modelled in-game but who cares? Just give us a nice cockpit. It looks as if the LED’s burnt out.

And also the new MFD for LITENING/Sniper say it’s in Air to Air mode despite having non of the functionality of air to air mode on those pods so what gives?

Yeah, their excuse was really really dumb.

Though they do need to come up with a way of displaying radar mode in the cockpit, even if thats just adding it to the radar MFD ahistorically due to game limiations

Probably their only reference material was a photo in that mode or something

Reasoning for that is the buttons are dynamic based on the display selected for each MFD. The devs chose to not include them as they would display the wrong information.

I still think that is better than them being unlit completely. Just looks bad

Perhaps put it to a community vote ?
