Eurofighter Typhoon (UK versions) - Technical data and discussion (Part 2)

It kinda does, as the Typhoon in game features a weapon that has yet to be integrated (GBU54), so in theory the it is equipped with software standard that has yet to enter in service.

But as far as I am aware, capabilities like CAPTOR-E, Stirker II or Spear-3 haven’t been denied on grounds of the Typhoon in-game not being a T3+ variant and the RAF’s FGR4s are compised of T1s, T2s and T3s Though the T1s are mostly used for QRA and Training.

So just because they are “suppose” to be T2B15s, doesnt really block them from getting upgrades in the future and liek you said, they already have GBU-54s and also I think GBU-62s they’ve yet to use IRL

The RAF currently operate three generations of the Typhoon known as Tranches One, Two and Three. Tranche Two and Three aircraft mostly equip front line squadrons and have been upgraded to a similar standard - with Tranche Three aircraft also having the ability to use conformal fuel tanks in required. The older Tranche One aircraft cannot be easily upgraded to the same standard and are currently used for training and the air defence of the United Kingdom however they are expected to be retired in 2025. The RAF operate the Typhoon from RAF Coningsby in Lincolnshire, RAF Lossiemouth in Morayshire, RAF Mount Pleasant in the Falkland Islands whilst also maintaining a combat deployment at RAF Akrotiri in Cyprus. The latter flies daily combat missions over Syria whilst also supporting NATO enhanced air policing missions along the Ukrainian border. - Source

That off course depends on how the devs will decided to deal with the software of the typhoon (but as the example I previously mentioned prove (kinda), they will probably not consider it and add whatever weapon was tested or used on it).

Unlike GBU54, that is not even being considered in the slightest for any EFA irl. I’m surprised it was added in the first place.

Well, we are still fighting to get them up to DA standard… So… clearly not a fan

I think it was a “Take this and stop asking for MMW, Brimstone 2s or Spear-3s”

It provide for sure a stand off engagement capability, albeit incomparable in performances and effectiveness to what brimstone and similar sistems could achieve.

I checked and the German typhoon is actually specified to be a T2 Block 10, presumably so they’ll add a newer version maybe?

But the Italian and British ones aren’t specified to a Tranche and Block.

I tried to use them in an ASB match, but gave up as they have the annoying Mach 1.01 release limit and getting a typhoon to go sub-sonic, especially at alt is a chore.

Definetly need Spear-3s

Before we get a T4 or 5, block or trance don’t matter that much, if we are not talking about a T1, which is indeed not our case. The most important thing is the software standard, which dertermine the weapons available to an unit. But apparenlty that in game doesn’t matter either as proved by the example mentioned previously, so it is unlikely that we will get a new efa before a T4 or 5, which are new standards equipped with various upgrades over T2 and 3.

Actually, my hope is that we get a T1 to “replace” the current Typhoons at their current BRs so the current ones can be upgraded further like getting CAPTOR-E

I managed to explode a pantsir 22 km away, but I was only lucky due to it’s immobility. They are also not the best for spawn bombing, as the GBU62 use the small MK82 body, which has a pretty limited warhead. For instance, a MK83 body would have been more usable, still far from being efficient as an actual brimstone (without even taking spear into account), but better than what we got.

Yeah, GBU-64s would have actually been throwing us a decent bone, but GBU-62s were a bit wierd

LJDAM right?

Yes, at least, one of them.

then they should be able to bring them on without issue in integration, I guess the whole testing deal is just standard procedure

No, they would have to integrate It

My interpretation of that is that if the Aircraft already has intergration for JDAM then upgrading to LJDAM or JDAM-ER doesnt require any further intergration.

But im not sure if any Typhoon is cleared/has the necessary intergration for the base JDAM with GBU-54 being planned for intergration at some point or something. (Though dont quote me on that because Germany might have them intergrated)

From what I remember, the German Efa’s are not equipped with a new software standard nor the latest one (which doesn’t include GBU54). And btw, the software deny the possibility of having weapons available only to specific a nation, indeed as long as the aircrafts are in the same standard, they will be able to use the same armaments.

Yeah, but Gaijin has in the passed denied a nation a loadout option because it wasn’t in their inventory
