Eurofighter Typhoon (UK versions) - Technical data and discussion (Part 2)

The radar is it’s greatest weakness.

can this be used for tanks or is it another useless anti ship missile

@Morvran
Little update to the AIM-9M: There wasn’t any change at all I would say, but it somehow is extremely lackluster overall (just really bad). If the target spams flares (1 flare per 0,25-0,5 seconds), flying in a straight line the AIM-9M will miss, no matter if side-, rear- or front-aspect, as its IOG drift is so high that even a shot from a 2 km distance will miss the target. Flare spam without doing anything (no control inputs) is enough to defeat it according to the situations I had today lol

Yeah, ive had similar results. It having IOG drift is so stupid

Yep, so the moment you know it’s there, just flare (yay, it rhymes xD). The only difficulty is to know when it got shot at you (or you just pre flare if you have BOL), otherwise you can even be braindead and defeat it as no maneuver is necessary ^^

Yea, something is wrong with 9Ms, seriously wrong, they just refuse to track, lol

Well, they might need another major update for it kekw…

God damn the game sounds terrible without sound mods. VWS and RWR on the Typhoon are just painful to use without now.

I too miss my mods…

Ive not had that, but I have had a few missile stay on my RWR for like 2 minutes chasing me, which I dont understand either from the stand point of battery or how it kinematically “kept up” with for that long

This I always thought was gaijins inability to model airframes as opaque to radars → Every missile flying away from you also triggers the RWR with high strength as the missiles radar backlobe behaves like the missile body isn’t blocking it. Same with aircraft radars which is also the reason you get radar warnings from aircrafts you’re chasing lol

Ah… that it might be

It’s a really annoying behavior as you never know if suddenly someone or some missile popped up behind you or you didn’t see another enemy plane coming frontal in a chase.

Already made a bugreport about it a year ago.The answer was this:

@Gunjob
Is there anything which can be done about this or can it be carried to the devs? It’s really annoying and unrealistic that the airframe of the plane or missile is transparent for its own radar backlobes and causes you to reflexively start maneuvers which are either unnecessary, straight up put you into a “dangerous” situation or take your attention from what’s important while flying.

On that note: RWRs need some rework themselves, like a toggleable range scale and inactive/fading contacts keeping their relative coordinates on the RWR so they aren’t static during your own maneuvers and update their position only on a “blip”.

Isnt that a guess?

It’s a fairly reasonable one

No ALARM missile in game
