ASRAAM will also be crippled due its design because Gaijin will look at it and say this thing can’t even turn without AoA fins, when that time comes I will laugh at Morvan because he will be the first person who will demand IRIS-T/Aim-9X for FGR4.
I have said it before ASRAAM will act like an R-27ET it will perform worse than the CAM and Gaijin will Ignore reports because they are “different missiles”
Everyone will have a DASS/MAWS system and your ASRAAM will likely be flared accidently while trying to hit a target at 20km away. Least the 9X and IRIS-T will be useful in close ranges
Exactly, this isn’t real life where NATO vehicles/munitions performs accurate.
ASRAAM will be situational missile while IRIS-T and Aim-9X will steal the show and FGR4 is gonna need them.
I guess Morvan doesn’t want to benefit from those missiles while using British Typhoons, well at least most of us do.
He does play Sim, so having or facing Typhoons with country appropriate weapons does seem appealing but in the air rb crap fest you need every edge you can get.
Even in Sim it wouldn’t matter because DASS/MAW systems will also alarm you against those long range ir missile shots so having HOBS missile in your pocket is always nice.
In fairness I don’t remember the last time I got into a WVR engagement in sim. Typhoon can just deny them at will.

Smart pilot can easily refuse to go WVR by using its plane capabilities, anyway this discussion was mainly about ARB so lets drop the sim discussion for some other time.
Even in arb typhoon as an aircraft is peak BVR airframe. If you stick to long range engagements and refuse dogfights until it’s 1v1, which is trivial because of how fast it is, you can basically massacre the opposing team. That’s why I hold little value for HOBS missiles, I just want missiles that don’t fold when 1 flare is dropped or the enemy turns a little.
Its true that Typhoon excels in BVR but the problem is due to how easy to notch current Fox-3 missiles and how their flight performance modelled every game turns into knife fight sooner or later, when that happens HOBS missiles enters the show while ASRAAM will struggle a lot.
Not to mention I’m pretty sure Gaijin will model ASRAAM like some sort of R27ET on steroids so it will most likely gonna get flared rather easily from long range.
My take on it as that i want actually unique differences between the nations. I have italy, germany and britain but i see no point in grinding the exact same plane 3 separate times just to have them. I would love for there to be real differences between them so i can at least get some flavour, i wouldnt want a british typhoon with amk just as much as i wouldnt want a german typhoon with irst.

We’re way past beyond that and honestly I want my FGR4 just as capable as German Typhoon when it comes knife fights, I don’t wanna stuck with long range ir missile that can get flared accidentally.
You could then grind the german one, which im assuming you already have. And in a knife fight good luck getting any ir missile to track, i would prefer an aim 120 for that.
Exactly. Im slowly picking my way down the Italian air tree, but at the moment, there is absolutely 0 reason for me to ever buy either Italian Typhoon if/when I eventually grind them, they are both currently identical to the FGR4 (bar the LWR which is of course, incredibly OP in ARB/ASB)

No, its the only difference between the Italian and UK Typhoons (and which specific bombs theyve got, and now we’ve got the ePW2 thats way more subtle than before)
never even knew the fgr got one. Although i dont see how many situations would call for it.
Saved me once from a KA-52 firing a Vikhrs at me in a GSB match early last year. That was pretty much the only time ive seen it triggered. If the new Pantsir is beamriding then it might be handy for that? but I dont think they are
So maybe when we have Brimstone 3s with Prox fuse and they are being used as A2A weapons, the FGR4 will hold an adnvatage in knowing when they are being locked on by a tpod
