First, shoot down all of the Rafale’s MICAs with AMRAAMs. After that, we still have our 9Ms left—then we just play with him.
Wait until you realize Rafale pilots actually carries Magic-2’s for CQC.
Isn’t MICA the better choice there too? in CQC you’re not notching, and TVC will let it pull in hard
Opponent can easily multipath your MICA’s and force you to knife fight or keep abusing multipath.
Thats where Magic-2 shines which is why i carry 2 of them all the time.
D-AMRAAM moment. D definitely has something up its sleeve.
I can’t wait to try using the Eurofighter.
Euro doesn’t get 120D
Just managed to get a hilarious long range kill. 1v2. both of them are heading back to AF and im Bingo. so I just yeet 2 of my remaining C5s towards them at a range of 60km and turn cold to go RTB. Not really expecting much other than maybe delaying them by a few seconds having to maybe defend…
Onyl to take out 1 of them :D
near future?
Unlikely.
Least of which because the highest mark of AMRAAM fitted to a Typhoon that we are publically aware of is the C8 (iirc).
The most likely addition will be meteor if/when Gaijin determines its necessary, probably a year or 2 after they add 5th gens
I thought the devs were deliberately not equipping it, but did the Eurofighter not carry the AIM-120D in the first place!?
From my limited knowledge, I thought the C-8 was supposed to have avionics equivalent to the 120D…
There is that too. US mains do need their handholding half the time to do even half as well as the minor nations (case in point, just had an F-15 turn hot after I had fired a missile at him, suffice to say, he did not survive)
So its in part a buff for the F-15C GE.
The thing is, whilst the UK and I think Italy have them and I beleive Germany has ordered them, they are intended as a stopgap MRAAM for the F-35 until such time the US stops delaying the intergration of Meteor on the F-35. Aim-120D is probably compatible, but why Equip Aim-120Ds when you can equip Meteor to the Typhoon?
Ive heard both that the C8 is an export version of the D and that the C8 is jus the export version of the C7. So I have no idea. Gaijin could just make the C8 a broadly equivalent missile to the D, its not exactly like the AMRAAMs are currently based upon any IRL data, but then the US mains would moan
I’d rather look forward to the meteor tbh
Essentially typhoons can get an Aim120C8 which is just a reskin of the Aim120D. And it fits Gaijin’s agenda of “originality” since its different name
Well actually apparently C-8 doesn’t get GNSS and 2-way DL. It uses the D’s motor so only benefit over C-5 excluding electronics as Gaijin does is longer burn/battery time. So a longer C-5 basically.
Spain, Italy, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia all bought Aim120C-8. Germany and Uk hasn’t publicly announced them so no one knows for those countries. Since its technically possible to mount C-8 though, all the typhoons can get it.
We bought AIM-120D
I was talking about the C-8
C-8 is export downgrade of AIM-120D so nations with the D are not going to get C-7
wasn’t 120D purchased for F-35 though? as Meteor is STILL yet to be intergrated
yes
The issue is Gaijin thinks giving typhoons Aim120D is too op. So why not give them all C-8 as a stop gap till typhoons can get D or even meteors later if they can’t get D. Wouldn’t be game breaking as its just longer burn time, no GNSS and DL
