Most likely, same as the F-16 VWS is universal to all that are fitted with it. Would be easier to keep them all in English that is understandable for most people since English is mandatory for aviation communication. Imagine you’re a German Typhoon pilot and there was a selector for different language VWS but you’ve fat-fingerd the wrong option and suddenly you have a scouser screaming missile warnings at you.
We need to be able to understand what is being said, couldn’t do that if it was a northern accent 😛
(Though a Scottish VWS would be hilarious)
Drop the sensitivity a bit
The RWR is very sensitive at 100% and you really don’t need it that high. Dropping it seems to help quite a bit.
Im currently on 70% and not noticed any issues
Official Eurofighter simulator trainer showed a multifunction display with dual rock amraam
For the sensitivity, I’d still suggest 100% and I’ll explain why.
Typical ARH terminal lock range is 16-18km, if you reduce sensitivity of your RWR to say half (50%) for simplicity you will only detect a terminal ARH at 8-9km reducing your time to defend against an incoming missile.
Hmm… didnt realise it was quite that simple
Seemed to me to reduce the amount of “side-lobe” if ive got that term right, contacts, without affecting the range at which I detected stronger contacts like a missile lock.
I assumed it was more RWR specific, so if the RWR was capable of detecting the missile going active at 50km and I reduced the sensitivity to 50%, it would still detect them at 25km for example. At least that is what it kinda feels like to me at least.
Yet we havent seen any Eurofighter with dual rack amraam pylons in real life.
Which means Eurofighter is technically capable but airforce chooses not to use it with that configuration for now.
We can see the mfrl rack that is also used for aim120, but yes they haven’t publicly shown it mounted.
Looks like the german typhoon rwr is locked behind a paywall unfortunately
There hasnt been the need for it. Heck, they rarely use the double racks for ASRAAM/IRIS-T either.
More often than not, those Pylons have been used Brimstone or GBUs. The Typhoon has yet to be deployed in a situation where maximum missiles mass was actually needed. Even in the air policing roles its doing currently, they are likely in a 2+4 or 4+4 weapons fit with a tpod and external tanks (though based upon some of the images, they might even be in a 4+0 weapons fit at the moment)
Not all squadrons have access to them, in the original purchase plan then only budgeted for “front line” squadrons.
Cant find the full reference right now but only the “AD” aircraft where to be fit with them and “OS” were not. Basically the MOD is cheap haha.
Nothing new then :D
No it just reduces the ranges based on the carrier, so a 100km radar is detected at 50km at 50% etc etc.
Hu, interesting… I wonder why a reduced RWR sensitivity is barely noticable on the Typhoon, but very noticiable on the Tornado. Maybe its just a placebo or something.
Definetly will look at increasing it then
Probably, I went over the subject with a dev to confirm the behaviour.
Good to know, always been a bit confused about what exactly that setting actually did. could do with a tooltip being added
There it is;

I’d assume from this all the TMC’s are just in storage for a future war.
Yep, that is what I assume so far. Its rare seeing them in either 4+4 or 2+6 weapon fits, even at the moment
but even in war time…
i dont think that there is too much of a need for having more than 8 missiles
