Eh… I’ve had one completely break even in side aspect yesterday (post)
I don’t think they changed much if anything with 9Ms. They’re just as hit and miss as always, it’s either they go through any countermeasure or evasion attempted with ease, or the target drops 1 flare or god forbid launches a missile and it folds. They’ve kinda always been like that.
Interesting it never left track. That wasn’t even an IRCCM failure.
Yeah they just voluntarily miss sometimes. Had it ever since they were brand new. Sometimes the proxy just decides not to work too (mostly in front aspect) even without flares.
Yep, that is exactly it. Tracks at the border of the FoV go haywire while constantly showing TRK.
The interesting bit for my shot though, is that it wasn’t at the edge intially, in fact it was nearly central and then just randomly turned away from the target when they flared (though might have been coincidence)
As I see it, it tries to turn to the interception point far in fornt of the target but the moment the missile has the direction the target leaves the gimbal (or is at the corner of it). The target flaring can be the reason as I observerd this too. The moment the seeker should shut-off at the corner of the gimbal, because the target is flaring, it doesn’t shutoff but drifts into nowhere.
I have a strong inkling that this is related to lock-ons before launch drifting into nirvana instead of activating seeker shut-off without lock-on when the target is flaring during aquisition (Tracks with a red circle which drifts into nirvana until you relock). But it happens during flight.
Perhaps, as again in my shot, it turned in the opposite direction for some reason, but something is definetly weird. Definetly time for a 9M overhaul

This is the most convoluted aircraft to try and understand anything about, every unit feels like a completely different aircraft from one another.
If you think EFTs are bad you should take a look at the F-16 or Flanker family lol

I mean, they will tell us that they’ve installed AESAs on aircraft but not if those aircraft are EFTs, despite the EFT being the only one that even has the capability. The chances that they’ll tell how many of a weapon it can carry that hasn’t been seen in active service yet was always nill😂
