Eurofighter Typhoon (UK versions) - Technical data and discussion (Part 2)

Then how are you gimbling the Radar to detect things behind the aircraft?

Still don’t how they can think a radar that due to be in service is slower than older radars it’s just funny

From what I understand, They’ve set the speed based upon AESA + Mechanical respositioning, even for modes that require 0 mechanical repositioning which is dumb. So the speed is correct if you are in the 200 wide mode, but for the other modes, its just daft, and I beleive its well within the game code to allow for scan speed per mode

What he means is that the IRBIS doesn’t have a scan zone that exceeds the ESA limit, so ±60

Now they haven’t. They reverted it because they “don’t believe the E-scan speeds” (!?!?) so we now only have the M-scan speed of 190.

That is what I said.

190 is what I was expecting for the 200 wide mode but we should have 560+ for all the other modes, instead we have the 190

So the Radar now “works” the same way the the new ground based AESAs work like the SLM for example, which only scan electronically in the vertcal but not horizontally (beacuse reasons…), thereby limiting the scanspeed to the max. speed of the mechanical axis? Or did i missunderstand something?

lol (no)
the radar works like any other aerial radar but is limited to its mechanical scan speed. We basically just have a mechanical radar with extra steps (and tws esa).

All the disadvantages of both systems…Thanks Gaijin

±60. It’s largest scan zone is 120 degrees

You have to move the radar scan zone

(which is still faster than nearly every other esa in the game)

Oh yeah i had a brain fart, ±60 is even on the low end but it’s a PESA so gaijin might have different standard

You have seen the videos and demonstrations of how fast the swash plate moves.

i was talking about irbis there.
Eurofighter is only underperforming in its scan zones below ±70 degrees. Its wide scan zone, ±100, is not underperforming.
Gaijin simply erroneously put that wide scan zone speed for all scan zones instead of only its wide scan zone.
For irbis, its widest scan zone is ±60 degrees. so it doesn’t have to deal with the delay from moving the plate

True, i’m not saying its unplayable or anything (it’s very much playable)

Right, so a brochure and a picture of a KH38MT which hasn’t been proven if its a mockup or real is enough to convince the devs that its real and belongs in the game, but any time its anything Western there’s always some doubt if its real or a ‘clear marketing lie’

funny thing is kh38mt is about as real as SPEAR glide, but only one is in game…

Agreed

You could bring the latest most detailed publicly available information on any western vehicle and the snail couid, at any point, decide that the manufacturer is simply lying. (Despite the huuuuuuuge financial and legal repercussions that would bring IRL).

But you can photoshop a 48*48 pixel jpeg of some Russian vehicle and they’ll add it in about 5 minutes.

I hate that it is this way, but we will have to deal with it yeah.
