Eurofighter Typhoon (UK versions) - Technical data and discussion (Part 2)

Do we have or are there any sources stating the duration of the seeker shut-off? The current duration of up to 2 seconds seems way too long.

That’s a Flame or Gunjob question

Welp, there goes nothing: @Flame2512 @Gunjob
Do we/you have anything on the “seeker shut-off” duration for the AIM-9M / AIM-9L/I(-1) seeker?

Btw. I’ll try to write up a report about the bugged guidance of these missiles, but I don’t know if the AIM-9L is affected too. (They really miss a “weapons” category for that matter as I have no idea if I should put it under “aircraft” or “game mechanics”).

Id put it under aircraft as its an aircraft weapon

Isn’t the AIM-9M on the AH-1Z affected too? That’s why I’m pondering “game mechanics” ^^

I think that is just overthinking it a bit

So “aircraft” it is ^^

For the AIM-9M it does not have a fixed duration shutoff lasts until the flare leaves the FoV.

It’s an aircraft weapon so personally I’d put it under aircraft.

Then there’s something wrong with the implementation as the seeker shut-off triggers at extremly short distances (<1 km) too but isn’t immediately disengaged the moment the flare shoots outside of the FoV (BOL here being an exception as these should keep longer in the FoV of the missile as they’re ejected behind and not shot out up or down).

Edit: Created a report for the bugged guidance: Community Bug Reporting System

Is there ever a world were the DASS system actually works in game or is it a case of well Russia don’t have systems that advanced so we are once again holding back Western aircraft?

IR ground launched SAMs absolute bread and butter for a DASS system in game it doesn’t even register the launch

ah yes that is clearly the issue and not that gaijin is abhorently bad at maintaining their codebase and implementing new features

and you are wrong there russia has such systems

Not to the level of Typhoon and Rafales but yes they have systems.

do these have LDIRCM to go with it like su57 though?

No they have BOL pods and programmable chaff automatically deployed as part of the protection system. I cannot think of a world unless you are playing War Thunder or Ace Combat you would want an LDIRCM system. Unless Russia does plan to just fly Su-57s like bloody Top gun

they litterally have 360° spherical MAW and LWR and integration of LDIRCM on the Mig-35

ah yes becasue that is the only system they use and litterally nothing else for defending against missiles

again you are making baseless uninformed statments

There are levels, Typhoon will detect the threat, jam the threat, then if the system launches it will select the correct countermeasure and it will plot the route for the highest likelihood to escape said threat.

Well considering LDIRCM will not work on IIR seekers I fail to see the point of it.

I would also question the efficacy of Russian MAWS when a Su 30 has been shot down by IR sea drones over the Black sea.
