Interestingly, of the ASRAAM launches I have seen even at high altitude where the aircraft themselves produce contrails, the missiles barely have one while other weapons put out a noticeable trail.
I still have no clue why. Maybe the tests are just in a weird condition.

I have a graphic posted somewhere that explains the mechanism and temperature ranges that cause missile trail. I cant find it atm, but the sparksnotes are the types of missile exhaust that the motor lets out and the environmental conditions (temperature and humidity) will impact the formation and duration of the trail.
I’d love to hold onto the tanks until I really need to drop them. Not a fan of being forced to sit around with empty pylons or randomly drop the tanks while in formation.
Never said it was incorrect, if you go back and actually read you’d see that I said they should have added an older version without AESA, as with typhoon, rather than trapping themselves in this corner where they now have to add ESA to all countries
