Eurofighter Typhoon (UK versions) - Technical data and discussion (Part 2)

I personally don’t know how this HMD displays these, but just from logic and how other HMD work, I’m somewhat confident that this is how it works. Wouldn’t make sense to display radar contacts the same color as threats like incoming missiles.

Finally, after 9 months they’ve implemented changes to the Eurofighter’s MFDs and HMD that don’t ruin the sim experience anymore, since they were bugged and actually made things worse.

There are still many useful features missing, like the radar display in elevation mode (both profile and C-Scope), the director gunsight, the ACM modes symbology on the HUD… At least all of these are already implemented in other jets, but this is still a big step forward. Better late than never.

They still need to fix the HUD though, since it’s still stretched, but thanks, they look fantastic.

The changes are definitely a step in the right direction that I welcome, but unfortunately the EFT will continue to gather dust for me until they fix the VR issues it has, which is likely not happening anytime soon…

Something I remember noticing as well that I don’t think has ever been reported for the EFT is that there is no in-cockpit display of the MAWS, which means that if you play with MFD’s only (as I do due to how terrible the in-game overlay is when used in VR), you effectively lose all but the audio warning of the MAWS. I assume they’d also be displayed in the HMD as well considering how the HMD and the EFT’s sensor fusion work, but considering how gaijin works, both these things will likely need to have visual proof of existing irl to have a chance at being implemented in-game.

Does anyone have any pics of incoming missiles being displayed on the MFD’s or the HMD?

I know that Fox 3 Missiles are allready beeing displayed on the RWR Screen, but I am not sure about IR Missiles

Yeah Fox 3’s are shown, but they are the only missile type shown as they have their own radars and therefore show up on RWR actively. No other type of missile shows up in-game, regardless of being picked up by the MAWS and the range and bearing being known.

Gotta wait for the EFT to be added in AoT

I cant wait for Aces of Flop to come out and fail horribly so all the sim and VR devs can come back to work on the actual game

I would not hold my breath.

Take a look at Statshark monthly battles and notice what planes are the most played and how many players have purchased $80 premiums.

New premium vehicles are basically a free money switch. Aces of Thunder seems to just be Air RB map set that is repacked as a standalone VR game.

It’s being pushed by some big YouTubers like Greg’s Airplanes which means it probably won’t immediately flop and it’s not like if it flops that all of those players will see WT Sim as the better alternative. I’ve actually seen Greg be pretty adamant that AoT is almost an entirely separate evolution from WarThunder even though he has never played the game.

None easily found but they are bound to be out there somewhere. Maybe @Gunjob has some or has some allowed documents including them? (You must have the equivalent to the Library of Alexandria as a tech mod full of documents.)

But it’s safe to say it does have a MAWS page IRL or the HMD showing the same data.

When looking though I did find this image from a Typhoon sim showing the map MFD and also what looks like a camera MFD on the right display. Not sure exactly what camera is being shown there if any at all, if it is then either it’s a TGP or PIRATE’s cockpit display for target ID.

Fairly certain there is a source for it on the HMD. so 100% that. But Id assume its on the MFD or at least combined with another MFD page. Probably dispalyed on the RWR page

Most likely yeah, makes sense for it to be displayed there instead of on separate screens. Might as well combine the two into one for the sake of ease.

It doesnt have a dedicated MAWS display irl, I know that much. IRL, the data should/would be shown on the DASS format (handles all defensive system info) and/or the Pilot Awareness format (tactical info + nav info + radar/target info all overlayed over map). Might even show up on the attack formats seeing as the sensor fusion of the EFT combines all available sensor info to create system tracks, so things the radar hasnt scanned or picked up might still show up on the attack formats to allow ease of pointing for the primary fire control sensors.

Unfortunately though, I haven’t found any pics of incoming missiles shown on any of the formats besides the DASS format with what I presume to just be the bog standard ARH missile incoming displayed, which isnt of any use.

Surely it can be assumed that is a non-ARH missile, as it has no track symbology attached to it?

The green arrow indicates the missile is being actively jammed by the EFT, so its def an ARH.

Oh fair enough, then the in-game missile symbology is wrong?

I dont actually remember what the ingame missile symbology is off the top of my head, I have played the EFT in probably something like 6+ months at this point cuz of the VR bugs. All I remember is that the MAWS definitly does not show any non-ARH missiles on any of the MFDs.

Don’t these arrows show the targets’ positions in space? The thicker and bolder the arrow, the greater the difference in altitude.

iirc green arrow means jamming and red arrow is being jammed by

I’m also not entirely sure how you’d end up below a SAM

is it possible to create a user mission with the eurofighter thats equipped with iris-t (rb98) instead of aim9s?
