Which is a bug? I thought this was reported and fixed in the earlier days of the EF…
How come now that lidrcm helicopters can now fire behind cover safely and without ever being targeted is okay, but fnf brimstones are not allowed? Let alone just brimstone 2 SAL?
Huh, it certainly used to be the case IIRC
It did used to be the case. Weird they changed it.
They didn’t even try to balance this MITL mechanic as currently it’s like you fire a propelled targeting pod, which transmits its video in 4K, with a warhead. Most A2G missiles have only 128x128 pixel resolution or even lower. An exception are cruise missiles which go up to 256x256 pixels (e.g. Taurus).
At this point I strongly believe that gaijin isn’t using “version control software” at all and works only with file overwrites while every developer has his own state of the overall software. So if one developer copies his state onto the base, the changes of others to the same files get overwritten if not manually accounted for (which can happen easily if hundreds of files are changed). That would explain so many happenings of “fixed it → it’s back again”, especially for things which aren’t relevant to balancing at all.
Getting removed from helis apparently
Haha. I guess they couldnt keep arguing that LOAL would be game breakingly OP to add for the Brimstone whilst adding it to the LMUR
I mean, they said they only delaying for like 1 patch though, then adding it for everyone.
Still don’t understand their reasoning. You could just make them LOBL at a fixed range of 8-16 km or something similar to IR missiles. You don’t get a warning for IR missiles too, so you rarely use smoke to defend against IR missiles as you’re unable to see them most of the time. The only advantage of the Brimstone is their number on the respective platforms. Even the warhead is subpar to other A2G weapons as Tandem-HEAT is still bugged against ERA.
By the way, do we know the lock-on time of the Spice series bombs? I was wondering which AtG munitions could get a chinese buff as well
Yeah. Mode 2 Brimstones, especially if still artificially limited to Brimstone 1s, would still be some of the weakest FnF weapons at top tier by quite a margin.
You could only engage 1 target at a time not the 20 you can with the F-15. The aircraft has to be in LoS of the target and within laser spot range. None of the MITL weapons need to do either.
Their excuses for why Mode 2 would totally break the game are just getting kinda pathetic at the moment. Especially when they bring up teamkilling as an excuse not to add Mode 2…
Technically doesnt even have that anymore. 15 on the GR4, 18 on the Typhoon. F-15s have 20 FnFs already
Oh they just don’t want you to be anywhere near competetive, that’s it.
Brimstones are harder to intercept and easier to use at short distances where EF’s CAS capabilities truly shine.
The Brimstone doesn’t have an IFF to identify a locked on target as a potential friendly, right? I see a capability hole in the C4I doctrine ^^
But there is an IFF STANAG for the 94 GHz range which the Brimstone seeker uses, so that could be possible.
Their main argument these is that Brimstone cannot be countered by smoke, unlike IIR.
and that would only consider mode 3.
Mode 2 would simply be a case of not pointing the tpod and thus the laser at a teammate in the first place. But apparently that is only a concern for the Brimstone and not say… ANY SAL, TV or IR guided weapon ever added to the game
Non line of sight targeting, firing at enemies without ever being fired at = NOT OP
mmW brimstones lock on after launch & Gaijin refusing to add a multispectral smoke code = OP
I would really like to know the number of cases where somebody actively defended against an IIR A2G missile with smoke because the player knew it was coming long enough before impact, so the IOG drift let it miss the target ^^
This isn’t even as effective anymore with IR+IOG+GNSS missiles and glide bombs.
and 99% of the time you have absolutely no idea that you’ve been fired at, even less so now they’ve added MITL which allows for LOAL.
Then, even if you know you’ve been fired at, smoke doesnt always work. I’ve been killed dozens of times by IOG weapons going straight through smoke. KH-38MT is notorious for it due to its large warhead size and high speed.
Heck. Doesnt even need to be FnF Weapons. Ive killed plenty through smoke just using the PW4 or other SAL GBUs and guessing where the target is. Likewise been killed loads of time in the Stormer HVM in GSB by Mig-27s through smoke using their KH-25/KH-29s. Actually the latter happens so often, or at least was, that im semi convinced smoke wasnt working correctly at all. Ive definetly had the ability to maintain track and thus SAL on a target through smoke before.
So even that argument is really weak half the time. (and falls apart entirely when they just add multispectral smoke)
Russia doesn’t have any mmW weaponry, so therefore it won’t ever be implemented
This imo, is the more likely rational behind it
