Eurofighter Typhoon (UK versions) - Technical data and discussion (Part 2)

afaik Brimstone has only been seen on the triple rack

i doubt the quad rack would work with brimstone as the rocket motor will likely completely munt the seeker and everything of the brimstone behind

ok

Wait…are we getting loitering on ALARM???

No, chute was denied.

Despite that the report is still open

I guess they keep it for the “Future that might come”

I’m having a good time.

Alas no. Reasoning being balance.

More likely reason is ‘Russia couldn’t do it - so it cannot possibly exist.’

I wish the aiming points worked at the moment, and I really hope we get ammo dumps and the likes in other gamemodes.

Theoretically wouldn’t the loiter mode be a pretty hard counter to Pantsir S2? The falling missile wouldn’t show up on radar (very little doppler) and it’d also be floating in their radar search dead zone, waiting for emissions to resume.

Regardless it’s a load of dingo’s kidneys to deny the feature imo

So spear would get a release over mach 1 sunce it got an ejector?

Depends, does it use the same ejector as GBU-39? (I forgot what it’s called)

And if not, we’d have to look around for info for that specific ejector it uses to see if it is capable of dropping them at and above supersonic speeds

Suspect the reason is more “Britain is not our primary revenue playerbase, the effort is not worth it”

At this point I’d take a placeholder gun piper from anywhere else. Gripen not fire the same calibre? Surely they could model it off that

Hey, we need that gun indicator, don’t take it from us 😿

I thought esa radars when in look up mode had no radial Doppler filter, only when looking down does it have one

GBU-39 got limited to Mach 1.1 on DEV.

Dunno how it works in the game but falling objects from directly above tend to be missed by pantsir players. I guessed that it doesn’t show up on their radar screen for lack of doppler shift but it could be a number of things including skill issue :v

AFAIK most (if not all) SPAAs/SAMs have a radar deadzone in a cone above them, so they can’t see objects coming directly from above or at a steep angle of >70-80°. ALARM would loiter exactly in this deadzone invisible for them and also attack from there so if they don’t destroy it on its path to this deadzone, they’re dead. They also wouldn’t register it as a threat because on its way to the loiter position it looks like it flies past above them.

AFAIK, pantsir should not have a dead zone. Among other SAM without vertical dead zone, I can also think of the SAMPT. There’s probably a bunch more (Buk 3 ?)
