irl or in game?
Irbis on 30sm2 doesn’t have any search zones where it uses its mechanical scan, only uses e scan.
Same with bars on su-30sm, gaijin limits its search zones to its e scan limits
I believe it actually scans slower than the Rafales AESA
Has anyone compared it to the Su-34s PESA…Probably the level Gaijin were going for.
Because how could little old Europe build a Radar that is as good as Russias…
Not quite. Rafale’s AESA sits even lower, which is even funnier considering it’s shorter range and then logically would need less dwell time allowing it to scan faster…
Gaijin doesn’t accept reports based on calculations but
Edit: it just clocked to me that the physical maximum scan rates here are 168deg/s for a 200km range, and 90.5deg/s for a 400km range. The hypocrisy of calling the CAPTOR-E’s scan speeds improbable/impossible while Irbis-E operates at over twice the maximum speed allowed by physics for its range is incredible.
Aha ok thanks for the reply.
Howere, both are still only marketing proposals or ideas for the future, and not operational.
But I don’t complain, I’m happy to shoot new things in-game, whether it’s realistic or not.
Flankerchan my beloved
Its a half decent stop-gap alternative to the in-service FnF weapons we should have which is MMW Brimstone 2/3s
Ah thank you very much. I doubt too much difference will be made, but at this point it’s in the game so there’s hope it’ll be fixed eventually (read: after a couple years)
As it stands the SM2 uses its detection range in a 10x10 degree cued scan for its detection range in a 120x9 scan, which should tell you enough about how (un)likely they are to fix it tbh.
Yeah I know and understand.
It’s obvious that many weapons are just added for balancing and not due to realism.
I mean, GBU-54/62 and all dumb bombs aren’t yet/were never used irl by the eurofighter user nations. Or Paveway IV by Germany.
And the twin missile carrier for ir missiles was never introduced by any nation. But it’s nice to have it in-game. Only the amraam-tmc is still fully fictional.
Is that unique to the irbis though?
Even having a feature like that is pretty unique to the irbis.
My bad there, more meant the captor-e/ecrs but the irbis probably has its fair share of inaccuracy too, regardless of whether that ends up being a pro or a con for the Su-30SM2
The chances of captor being buffed now are marginal too tbh, it would require gaijin devs to suddenly stop being convinced every good piece of british kit is a “marketing lie”
Then how are you gimbling the Radar to detect things behind the aircraft?
Still don’t how they can think a radar that due to be in service is slower than older radars it’s just funny
From what I understand, They’ve set the speed based upon AESA + Mechanical respositioning, even for modes that require 0 mechanical repositioning which is dumb. So the speed is correct if you are in the 200 wide mode, but for the other modes, its just daft, and I beleive its well within the game code to allow for scan speed per mode
What he means is that the IRBIS doesn’t have a scan zone that exceeds the ESA limit, so ±60
