Eurofighter Typhoon (UK versions) - Technical data and discussion (Part 2)

Bold of you to assume gaijin isnt gonna jump at the opportunity to kneecap germany.

They already modelled 2 different EFT’s just for germany not to get PIRATE, and thats way more work to do. So Im not sure why you think its farfetched to think they’d change 2 values in the code just to hurt germany a little.

They already model 2 radars for the EFTs ingame as well btw, the CAPTOR-M with PIRATE for UK/Ita, and the CAPTOR-M for Germany alone.

Hm true. But i think Gaijin loves screwing the UK even more so my money is on them only doing MK1 and slapping it on the UK Typhoon with some comment about 100 degrees being impossible and classic manufacturer propaganda

Paveway 4 integration completed earlier this year

Why would it have a higher rcs?

Wtf is this radar

The audio is perfect. but yeah, Its still a buggy mess. I think its time for bug report #4

where does it say its ±90* in the vid ?

Radars are installed at an angle in stealth jets because otherwise they’d be a large flat surface that reflects radar waves.

In this case, I’m assuming (though I could be wrong) that a more angled radar does a better job at deflecting radars waves than a less angled one.

Service dog for blind Eurofighter when?

Eurofighter bros

Isn’t that up though? Most stealth radars from what’s I remember are angled up, not to the side to reduce rcs (eg su-57, f-22, f-35). Really only 4.5 gens use esa radars mounted in a gimbal. I think the reason for that is not stealth but for getting the most out of their one radar.
To be the most stealthy, it seems the way to go is to angle your radar upwards

ECRS is angled up

it can gimbal left and right

The reason that most AESA don’t gimbal isn’t due to stealth but that most are from a decade ago

We had esas mounted on a gimbal since the 90s, before fixed esas for stealth became a thing
Heck the su-30sm in game rn has a esa mounted on a gimbal

Not a swash plate
and not an AESA

there is a difference between mounting a PESA on a gimbal and an AESA on a gimbal

What’s the difference?

one provides a much better gimbal then the other

that is not the difference

Irbis doesn’t use swash plate and has max scanning angle of ±125, much higher than the ±100 of the swash plate captor e
Wait does irbis even use a swash plate? Idek what a swash plate even does
