Eurofighter Typhoon (UK versions) - Technical data and discussion (Part 1)

What was that about the FOV

This report says nothing to be honest. Per an EADS presentation:

https://community.gaijin.net/issues/p/warthunder/i/ku6Y9nm8FGHH

Hmmm 140 is correct

It’s not correct. The 140° value comes from a misinterpretation of what “PPI” actually displays. However, the only source outlining what PPI means is the Eurofighter manual. @Flame2512 will hopefully confirm this.

I don’t think it is a misunderstanding

Much appreciated o7

Gaijin, pls?

It’s like they’ve forgotten the Typhoon exists - its only the best fighter in 3 of the tech trees lmao

Its buggy and loses lock too easilly
It acts in game like a Radar and not an IRST system.
I have seen jets notch it…not sure how you notch an IR based system but it happens…
No IFF and the ability to lock recon drones is also massively frustrating.
Its detection range is really short and actually finding things with is challenging. I often find myself flying in circles until the RWR ping lines up. Problem with that though is not everyone has a terrible Radar and they detect you first :(

Also happens on the Stormer…

There needs to be a lot of reworks.

Seems Rafales getting a supercruise buff in the near future, tho still not up to stated performance.

No word on the EFT’s supercruise getting fixed, pretty sure this’ll mean the Rafale will now supercruise better than the Typhoon ingame. Another L for the EFT, another bug fix for the Rafale…

I prefer proper working radar rather than proper supercruise ability.

Right now EFT’s biggest downside is the Radar Performance, scan rate is so slow it makes me question whether im using 4+th Gen plane or not.

Preaching to the choir there, the underlying point being more that the Rafale continues to get buffs/fixes while the EFT and other top tier jets continues to get ignored despite the Rafale already being the best jet in-game. Its not even like the EFT’s bugs havent been passed to the devs, they have, the devs just arent acting on any of them…

Its good that the Rafale is getting realistic fixes, but it almost seems to be the only thing getting fixes at this point. (This is hyperbole for those who arent great with figures of speech)

Thats the main problem, its great to see that Rafale is getting more love and love but ignoring EFT’s problems is not the way to do it.

More and more I’m suspecting the Typhoon is being kept in this state. Why would it take so long to implement a Radar fix?
If the Typhoon had it’s accurate Radar it would be superior to any other aircraft in the BVR environment, this would break the games “balance”
It would invalidate the F-15E (US mains best jet)
It would make it far harder for Su-27 and Rafale to get into the medium/close range arena they shine in.

I look at the patterns and fixes that have been allocated.
Su-27 given more missiles, improved engines, flight model buff and ACM HMD range increased
Rafale buffed several times. Able to carry additional MICA missiles…But report for MICA range being equal to an Aim120 not actioned.
Not actioned because that would make the Rafale the best jet in the game by a large margin.

To Gaijin the Typhoon is performing great. Will we see meaningfull buffs or fixes before the Su-30 and whatever AESA F-15, F/A-18 variant the US gets?

Oh yeah, forgot to mention this but seeing as they will be increasing thrust and reducing drag of the Rafale, theres a good chance it will now beat the EFT (and all other planes ingame) in all flight regimes when this buff occurs, since the EFT is already barely better in the 2c and worse in the 1c.

agreed and yes the rafale would be much better since it is one of the last modes XD

I just want to point out that the biggest issue with the EFT is the radar. And all top tier jets have underperforming radars, the Rafale having basically just a mechanical radar for example.
Also, while we see some fixes for the rafale here and there, keep in mind that none of them have been pushed live recently. I would guess devs are planning to implement multiple fixes for both the rafale and EFT for the next update in about small month, especially on the radar side.

While saying the rafales radar is underperforming is true, it is SO much better than all other top tier radars in-game its a bit of a joke and quite frankly insulting that french mains actually even complain about it.

It also doesnt entirely act like a mechanical radar in-game, as it has a constant TWS update feature only ESA’s have been given, updating TWS targets every 0.1s, which is gaijins way of modelling the ESA’s ability to dedicate a track beam to a target while continuing other jobs.

It’s only upside compared to other radars is the TWS continuity. Aside from that it’s not the best at anything else. The scan rate is relatively slow, especially with the number of scan bars, so the TWS effectively takes 5-10s before the first target pick up (just like the EFT, what a shock). The width of the scan is only half of what it should be (70° instead of 140°), and the range is the lowest of all 14.0 aircrafts.
